93 OVR Reggie Lewis Review

Written by ReviewsForThePeople

Good afternoon everybody. I am ReviewsForThePeople and today, I have a review on, in my opinion, the best budget amethyst that you can pick up in NBA 2K18 MyTeam. We will be talking about this new 93 overall amethyst Reggie Lewis from the Throwback Playoffs Moments Collection. As you all might know, Reggie Lewis is primarily known for his dunking and his incredible defense, but this card comes with even more than you could imagine for a Reggie Lewis card. He is one of the cheapest amethysts in the game, but at the same time, he is in my Top 3 for best amethysts in NBA 2K18 MyTeam. Like with the rest of my reviews, I judge a card by my gameplay experience and pricing, so I'm going to give an honest of a review as possible for amethyst Reggie Lewis.

Bought for: 3,500 MT (Typically goes for around 3-4k MT)

Strengths:

  • Mid Range Shooting: With his butter release, Reggie is one of the best and most consistent mid-range shooters in the game. He has a 97 open shot mid with a 95 contested shot mid, so it is very easy to time his release perfectly to hit at least 9/10 mid-ranges in a game of supermax.

  • Driving: Probably one of the best slashing amethyst players in the game. He has a 97 driving and contact dunk with 100 dunk tendencies, which means that he does draw a lot of posters. He also has mostly generic dunk animations, which makes it hard to block him compared to someone like Vince Carter or Michael Jordan. He also has an incredible 96 driving layup, as well as an 80 standing dunk, so posting up with this card for an easy standing dunk is definitely possible.

  • Quickness: I was actually shocked at how fast this card is when it comes to running a transition offense. He has a 95 speed and a 92 speed with ball, but sometimes, he does feel a bit slower when he loses stamina. Obviously, you will be fatigued when you don't have stamina, but trust me when I say that he does have some slow animations that can ruin a possession.

  • On-Ball Defense: It is very easy to play perimeter defense with Reggie Lewis. For all you good on-ball players out there, this card does actually contain the blow-by animation more efficiently than most other amethysts and even diamonds in the game. He has a 90 on-ball defense IQ with an 82 steal, making it easy to strip your opponent or just contest drives to the basket as well.

Weaknesses:

  • Three-Point Shooting (kinda): Even though his three-point rating of 85 is pretty high for Reggie Lewis, it isn't that high when you are playing against someone with much superior shooting ratings. There will be some games in supermax where you will feel like you can't defend your opponent and your best bet is to just score every possession. Reggie does not display that sort of consistency with his three-point shot. He currently averages 39% from the three-point line from the 7 games that I have played with him.

  • Post Offense: We really don't need to go in depth about this. He doesn't have a fade or a hook and his post control is pretty bad too. If you find yourself open in the post, feel free to shoot because as I previously mentioned, he does have an 80 standing dunk as well as a 95 draw foul rating.
  • Stamina: 52 - Gets tired too quickly
  • OR written as paragraph

Recommended Strategy: "Try to run plays to get him open (not really an isolation player), force drives to the hoops as much as possible for the best animations, user your defense with him"

Alternative Card: In my opinion, you can't really find any player with Reggie Lewis's stats for 3k, but if I were to suggest another player like him for around 10-15k, I would suggest the 94 overall amethyst Clyde Drexler. I do think that Reggie is better, but this is simply an alternative for people who would rather run with a bigger name, I guess.

Use if: "You want an athletic slasher with decent all-around shooting and amazing defense"

Don't use if: "You need a little bit more of a sharpshooter who can rebound the ball decently"

Bottom Line: "You can't go wrong with picking up this card for roughly 3,000 MT. This is definitely one of the best-valued budget cards in the game and for all the budget ballers out there, I 100% would recommend that you pick this card up because he is definitely good enough to start for your squad and could, in some cases, be good enough to play off the bench of your average diamond squad."

Thank you for taking the time to read my review on the 93 overall amethyst Reggie Lewis. I hope you guys did enjoy this and even if you have cards better than him, I would suggest just picking him up and trying him out for a couple of games. He is definitely a joy to use in this game and you will be pretty impressed with his driving animations as well. I will have an edit on my cut-off review for the 97 overall diamond Kyrie Irving, so stay tuned for that. I am ReviewsForThePeople and I am signing out. Have a great rest of your day.
