Ty Lawson did hit 10 threes in a row tho, that's incredible. I agree he shouldn't be a diamond, and they could've lowered some of his other stats, but 10 threes in a row deserves a beastly card.

Klay went 13-13 in the quarter, 9-9 from 3, with 37 points, blowing out the previous record of 33 (There are a lot of 32-30s). He scored 50 in the game. If that doesn't deserve a diamond, then why are the others diamonds... And he did hit them in a row like Ty did. He shot 100% in the quarter, how can he NOT have hit them in a row.

That guys name is Kobe...Sorry Klay has to take a back seat... but yeah his 30+ point quarter deserves a moments card...Just not another diamond...players that usually arent the greatest cant just get diamond for 1 game...thats why I hate Lawson, JR, Butler, Kemba, Love and co Diamond cards....for 1 game they deserve overalls just below Kobe and Mj and basically the same as Bird and Magic...not even close.

Well if Scola gets a diamond for 44 points, why doesn't Klay deserve one for almost that many in ONE QUARTER, shooting 100%, and 50 points in the game. If those other cards have diamonds, Klay's should too- but I'm not saying those other cards should have diamonds.

Klay scoring 37 points in a quarter is actually special!! and he's already a great player so it makes sense to bump him up to amethyst or diamond as u wouldnt even need too many overall points to get there...but all those other players usually rated like80 overall who get to 96 for a 40-50 pt game?!?! stupid as hell...literally every gold player card has basically had a 40 point game...

On some real shit. This is sad because Nba2k16 needs to check themselves .. Because #1 We out here as game fans paying for packs with real money and are not pulling these cards.. #2. We pay $60 to $80 dollars for some of us for the Michael jordan copie. And still Have to pay 50 dollars just for 75,000 200,000 Vc or some where in that era . And its 57,000 to open a box with 10 players in it.. And then do not pull the dimaond kobes, iversons .. #3. NBA2K16 is allowing players to jack up the MT prices on the cards.. diamond kobe is 5, 345,270 My team points are you kidding me.. You have to be floyd mayweather to play MT mode. Cause of the free roam the players have to sell cards ..at crazy crack head prices.. So meany of us love kobe and heaven forbid kids who want to play this mode who could only aford the game itself. Will never get this card. . #4.In road to the playoffs mode 2k does not match players with other players of their skill level.. And man if you playing a person with a diamond kobe ..And other diamonds forget about it..If you were not as lucky enough to pull some yourself.. Or come up with 5,367,476 MT points I mean dam... Just my thoughts. NBa 2k needs to do something about this and fast... I mean shit the prices that NBA 2k16 make for the cards are great .. I agree, I said this a long time ago. The best players are way too rare, and this game mode gets boring if you don't get to try out new players. Everybody is applauding 2k for putting out all these great new diamond cards, but how many people are actually going to be able to play with them? At least last year, if you spent money you were probably going to get something decent. This year, you could probably put $1000 into packs and not get anything more than golds. Once you get a decent amount of cards, there is no reason to open packs anymore because you are just giving away your MT. You should be able to make MT just by playing the game. And completely off topic - Did they not say at the beginning of the year that there would be new gauntlet boards added throughout? Where are they? The gauntlet has been dead for me for like 2 months.

It's basic supply and demand. It ain't the person selling the cards fault they go so high, it's people buying tons of MT. 2K need to find a way to cut that out and give us more ways to actually earn substantial amounts of MT, not 5K for beating a challenge, it should be 50K or something like that.

In my opinion, WITH 2K'S LOGIC, the only cards in the game than could be a 99 with mj would be 81 kobe or 100 point wilt. Yeah totally agree!!! (Y) literally any MJ between like 89-93 is better than the 96 one...Better scoring, faster, more agile, already in his prime and a winner...1996 MJ didnt have a career high in anything...MJ scored like 32ppg or more in 5 seasons...any of those wouldve been great.

I totally agree but the reason y a lot of people think that 96 jordan was his best year is because 1. that was the best team record in nba history, and 2. that was his best year from the 3 pointer shooting over 40%. Especially 2k players since the number 1 thing that most people look for in guards is their 3 point rating.

The rating system this year is BASED OFF OF MJ. He's 99, everyone else's overall is partly in comparison to him. Ronnie and LD said it on the livestream. That was before the throwback moments cards, but they are still going by that logic. This Kobe should be 99 OVR, but there shouldn't even be these stupid cards in the first place.

Lebron is a better defender than Kobe. No he cant guard Shaq but few people could. Just because Kobe has 12 all defensive selections to Lebron's 6 doesn't make him better. He has been in the league for 7 more seasons. Lebron and Hondo are the only 2 perimeter players to score 2000 points and have 6.5 defensive win shares for a season. Kobe's highest season when it comes to DWS is 4.5. Lebron has 8 season with more than 4.5. Also Lebron has more total DWS than Kobe and has played close to 400 games less.

You must have only started watching ball in 2012 to think Lebron has always had better teams. From Kobes rookie year the lakers made it deep into the playoffs bc they had Shaq and Eddie Jones and Van Exel. they were loaded when they won 3 straight in the early 2000s and again in 04 when they added Karl Malone and GP. But Kobe wanted to do it on his own so he got rid of Shaq and Phil. Kobe had a lot of help when he won his 2 finals mvps as well. When Lebron lost his first finals against the spurs in 07. His second highest scoring teammate during that finals was Drew Gooden. So dont give me that crap that Lebron has always had better teams

I had the onyx Kobe last year he was borderline 99 meaning if u got him cold( which was to easy cause tht volume shooter badge they had) He dropped down to a 98 overall in games

oh i dont know about that. But 2k actually can control overalls u can look at everyones total stats and people with more stats than others sometimes have lower ratings. Centers like shaq or deandre or andre drummond have a boosted overall from their stats because their shooting attributes are really low

I cant guarantee it 100% but since they are using real brands, 2k has to respect the companies' signed players. That means this Kobe will most likely only be able to wear Nike's as he has a contract with Nike. Frobe can wear Adidas I think because at that time he had a different contract. Im saving up for this Kobe atm so I'll be able to answer the Jordan question for sure soon...However logically he should be able to wear Jordans as Nike owns the Jordan brand. Nonetheless, 2k have split Jordan and Nike in the shoe listings so its possible they are keeping them completely seperate. That would suck because Kobe would be limited to Nike and players like Melo and Wade (signed SPECIFICALLY to Jordan) wont be able to wear Nikes but only Jordans :/ :/

I appreciate the content a lot but I do understand him. They'll definitely decrease in price over time but it would be great if they could increase the pack quantities slightly. Either way its great they're making cards like this!

Nope, volume shooter means the player is accustomed to shooting a lot every game and will go cold if not used, but get hot if used, even if they aren't making everything, whereas microwave means they can get hot quickly, like sometimes I'll win the jump, quickly pass it ahead and jam it and the player will be on double momentum the next possession.

How is this card not a 99 overall? Seems like 2k don't want anybody to be 99 overall this year besides Jordan. It's sad. This is the 2nd highest point performance, and its KOBE. Yet there are 4-5 MJ's that have the same/higher overall than this card. I respect MJ as a GOAT, but 2k is dickriding MJ too hard right now.

I understand that when this card came out 2k still didn't want anyone not named michael jordan to be 99(before they completely fucked up), but some stats are simply a joke. Driving dunk should be at least 95, vertical should be in the 88/93 range and his speed and quickness should be 91/92 considering the 08 one has 90 for both. Not to mention his D should be better. Even tho it's still great, prime kobe is one of the best defending SGs ever(and overall one of the best all around defenders ever, he was a friggin shadow). Still, the card is godly.

I think your forgetting Wilt's 100 point game
wilt was playing on a half decent team compared to the sh*t sandwich lakers kobe was carrying, the lakers came back from about twenty down in the second half to win by about 16, and wilt was playing in a day and age where no one could keep up with him physically except Russell, as well as playing when their was no rules regarding offensive goaltending so he could redirect teammates shots into the net.

Yeah, but this card is based on only 1 game, not the whole year, and he didn't even dunk very much in the 81 pt game. I just watched the game a couple days ago NBA TV. Most of his points were from jumpers, layups/inside shots, and a ton of FT's. Plus an 80 driving dunk and 45 contact dunk isn't bad at all. He dunks on people easily and a lot more than he did in the 81 pt game. He didn't have a huge defensive game either, probably why he only got 1 D badge and 73 shot contest and reaction time.

Not only that, but all-defense teams are a bit of a joke. Jimmy Butler made all-defense second team last year, and I know this sounds a bit stupid, but Butler was bad on defense last year. Like he shouldn't of been considered anywhere near the top defenders last year and I have very valid proof to back this up.

Players shot 4% better when they were guarded by Butler, than when they were guarded by other players.
To call Butler a 2-way player last year was asinine. Now, Butler is a great perimeter defender when he wants to be. He probably is the best Lebron defender in the league, he completely locked him down last year in the playoffs. But that's the playoffs and this was a regular season award and he got it based solely off of reputation.
Lebron got an all-defensive second team nod in '14. That year, he made all defensive second team. Lebron made players he was on shoot 1.5% worse. Kevin Durant on the other hand, made players shoot 6.5% worse when he was on them. He has never made an all-defensive team.
Now this stat doesn't track help defense, but you get the point. All-defense teams are usually based off of reputation, and not off of substance. I'm not saying Kobe is a bad defender (he isn't), just saying that all-defense is not really a good measure of a player's defense.
Bro defense isnt only about reducing shot percentage...its also guarding passage ways, stopping easy shots (if someone pushes you out to the perimeter thats great...if the attacker still scores then thats good offense not bad defense), steals, blocks, defensive win shares. Also throughout his career Kobe has had better players on his positions...Kobe guards and attacks Guards...both Shooting and Point guards...Lebron guards forwards...Sure KD and Kawhi are amazing...but theyve only been around a few years and its 2 guys...Lebron does occasionally guard other positions but i'm talking about day to day basis...Kobe played in the most SG and later most PG heavy league...and those "advanced" stats are often BS...sorry but you cant compare different players based off how much they reduced an opposing players shot... Lebron might have guarded bigger player one year, while KD guarded outside shooters more heavily.. theres waaaaay too many factors...every little shit fact could go in there...home games, away games, how many games each player played...which position etc...Kobe is a better defender than Lebron and KD and anyone else...and He's definitely on par with Pippen and MJ, you have to agree with that...I think players and coaches know best as they have to deal with/against Kobe and every other player...and Kobe has won the most Defensive 1st teams of any player, plus is regarded as the most versatile player and best 1v1 player (offense and defense) by literally every single person affiliated with the NBA...Within the top 5 perimeter defenders...which are most likely some constellation of Kobe, MJ, Pippen, Payton and Moncrief it is hard to argue whos best thats true...but Kobe certainly isnt worse than anyone on that list...If ur opinion is that Pippen was better then cool dude...I think Kobe has the edge...but you cant say anyone in those top 5 is actually WORSE than the other or that any of todays players come close to Kobe's defensive abilities, hard work and insane hustle.
Steals are not a good indicator of defense. The first example that comes to my head is Monta Ellis, who is a God awful defender who averaged two steals. Blocks don't really matter that much when talking about guards, and defensive win shares are a bad indicator. Pau Gasol was 5th in defensive win shares last year (other than his shot blocking, he was piss poor on defense and I say that as a Bulls fan), and Harden was 10th, above Noel (one of the best defenders in the league) and Anthony Davis. Ron Artest was 7th in 03-04, and has never been a top 10 defender according to defensive win shares in his career other than that one year. Also yes, while advanced statistics are not very reliable, the stat I used is much more reliable than other advanced statistics (individual defensive rating, defensive win shares), for judging a players one on one defensive impact. And yes, I can judge Lebron based off of that, because the stat shows perimeter defense as well as interior and 2013-2014, he made players on the perimeter shoot 2.2% worse (which mind you, he guarded more frequently than the interior), while the interior they shot above their averages.
Anyways, you can have the opinion that Kobe is the best perimeter defender, I don't think that's true, but you know what? You can have your opinions, I think Jordan is the best perimeter defender of all time (or Payton), but I am not getting into that because if I look at anymore statistics of Jordan I will gouge my eyes out. All I was saying was that all-defense teams are not a good way to judge NBA player's defensive capabilities, they're voted by the media, who to be entirely honest, as KD aptly put it "You guys really don’t know shit."

I just think that while Defensive teams arent entirely accurate they portray the opinions of players, coaches and sportswriters that maybe arent captured in stats...I always find stats so difficult to use as an indicator of whos better between 2 players u know? Cuz lets say Kobe has better scoring, steals, defense than Lebron, while Lebron has better rebound and assist values...people keep fuckin each other up about that...then theres Defensive and all nba team nominations, championships, mvps, finals mvps, scoring titles etc... also these player play at different positions, during different times, different amount of games. Lebron started right away in a Cavs team that was shit, while Kobe had to take a backseat for 2 seasons on a growing Lakers squad...So you could say if you take those seasons away Kobe would also top Lebron stats-wise...then again lebron Fans would say thats unfair because you didnt cut away Lebrons early seasons...so I always hate people who say stats dont lie cuz its BS, everythings so independent...then theres also like a whole other player who has more assists and rebounds than Lebron, even PGs like Big O and Magic...and almost as many ppg as Kobe and Lebron, so someone could just say "oh well theyre better cuz stats dont lie" Its a never ending debate...So I just feel like theres soooo many defensive stats...like offense where Kobe happens to shoot 4 feet further out than Lebron which is ALOT...does it really make a difference apart from Kobe having a tougher time getting crazy Shooting % ? Idk...Same on defense...Im sure Kobe outguns everyone in some category whilst Durant might cause offensive player to miss due to his long arms, Lebron might break them down physically while a player like AI gets 10 steals in a game and suddenly has the best steal values with MJ...Thats why I value Defensive teams cuz they're voted on by people who see and perceive all these players rather than looking at stats you might not see...Timmy is seen as a top 3 PF EVER although he has worse stats than probs the top 5...but he's one of those unselfish player where stats dont do justice...same principle here..and its different than the MVP (which i agree is a fucking joke i.e. best player ON THE BEST TEAM) Defensive and all nba teams can have a player on the worst team and thats what I think is great! But enough debating, I think we agree we have some amazing defenders and Kobe, MJ, Pippen, Payton and co are probs the best ever, so the other stuff is just opinion based. Yeah I feel what you're saying, it doesn't make it any easier when only recently people have been able to actually torrent every game. I still cant find any 2008 Finals games, and I had to go into the trenches of the internet to find game 6 of the 2003 NBA Finals (not even the whole series).
Also I think my team is pretty good, especially considering I haven't used any VC, and I can usually compete with people using amethyst lineups (I have no amethysts). Everyone fits my style well, and right now I'm hoping that dynamic Lillard goes up another overall so his price leaps, because I really regret not selling him for 70K+ when I had the chance, he's down to 50K now.
Yeah thats true, I moved to LA in 02 and watched numerous Lakers games since then. To me watching live is a whole different thing. To me the energy Kobe generated and just his pure will to win and drive the crowd nuts by making the toughest shots of any player ive seen just make him the greatest to me. I watched a lot of Jordan games before that and he was great as well. I do however feel the league has gotten a bit worse lately :/ idk what it is...im not one of those "omg the 70s were great" people hahaha but Wilt, Russell, Kareem, Big O, West era was insane, the 80's were great and then 90's through to like 06 was amazing as well...I just loved seeing Kobe battle Prime players like Dirk, Tmac, Vince, Allen fuckin Iverson and all those guys...now the league has gotten so small... All PGs and SFs, Harden, Klay and Kobe are like the only real SGs and Centers have absolutely vanished apart from Boogie puttin up some nice games...Oh well :p And sounds sick. I only have the Amethysts from actually playing the game except Scalabrine I got off the black market and Hakeem I got in a pack, but both were absolute luck :p I refuse to spend alot of money on this game so im keepin it at 50 bucks max overall
Yeah, but I think the league will get bigger soon. The Grizzlies were always a threat with their big lineup (they did go up 2-1 on the Warriors last year), but they have just gotten old and they really just didn't have the talent to pull off a title run. It might actually be the 76ers who bring back the big lineup with Noel/Okafor or Noel/Embiid. The Pacers ruined what they had imo by going small, and I cant see them becoming a contender unless they switch something up (after the Bulls lost Rose, they were definitely the Heat's main rival in the east, and almost beat their small ball in 2013). The Spurs might also go big in the playoffs when they try to juice all that's left out of Tim Duncan, but eh.

Usually, this year, Lebron according to the stat I used, he's been dominant on defense this year. Of course, that really doesn't matter when you cant defend in the playoffs like he has been shown unable to do numerous times (Kawhi Leonard in the 2014 Finals for example) and your help defense has gone down the shitter.
When I say reputation, I mean on defense. I have never actually heard anyone talk about KD's defense, yet I have heard that Lebron is a top defender in the league, and not only that, but is also able to guard 1-5 (which is laughable). Lebron has never been the defender he is cut out to be (albeit he has had his moments), yet he frequently has gotten praise for his defense. Why? I don't know, Curry doesn't get that kind of praise for his average defense. Because of this praise he got though, he got his all-defense team in 2014. I cannot speak to whether Lebron deserved it in previous years (based on his usual defensive performances in the playoffs though, that would be a big no), but in 2014, he had no right to be on that list, and KD was a better choice.

Hooks go in a lot more than last year, and fades go in a lot less than last year. And hooks go in more for me than post fades this year, unless it's someone like Hakeem with a great 98 post fade.
The only people I can consistently make post hooks with is gold shaq and 6th man of the year Kevin McHale. It just might be my timing or something but post fades are more consistent for me
Yeah I feel u. Every time no matter what it says very late release on hook shots, but I still make a lot of them. Post Hook Specialist and Bank Is Open helps a lot (with post fades too). The DPOY Hakeem, Robinson, and Howard all have good hooks. Gold Shaq isn't bad either. Probably with a lot of the gold players it's real hard. Still make plenty of fade aways this year, but not nearly as many as 2K15, I made damn near 90% of my post fades.

Yeah, but last year, it was so easy that people always complained and said it was cheese if u did post fades. Some people would get majorly pissed off and start yelling so I didn't do it that much unless my opponent was using them. Ths sapphire 99 ovr Hakeem, Onyx Garnett, Onyx Kobe, and PD MJ's I could make damn near every time.

Bruh y'all gotta keep in mind this card is based on one game. I don't think he really used the post fade in the game. If it was just in general, then it would prolly be a 98 or 99 post fade.
Kobe really got a deadly post fadeaway around 2008 in 2006 he didnt use it that much.

Id have to disagree with that... Kobe uses the fade more than MJ did, who also used it a lot...Hard to argue against Kobe being the most versatile SG offensively...Should definitely have a higher post fade...In the past decade no ones shot better post Fades as a guard...and maybe even overall only Dirk has been better on the fade.
While MJ was the better scorer in his day, I still firmly believe that Kobe is the most technically skilled SG that ever played the game. No idea why that post fade is so low.
agree! Also having the most all nba defensive team selection I think he should have a better defense. Reaction time, interception etc...Man he was beast on steals and is among the top 5 perimeter defenders ever...dont know why 2k would give so many players a better defense :/
