I'm pretty sure this card is for his near quadruple double performance in Game 6 of the 2003 Finals where he had 21 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists, and 8 blocks
They should make a David Robinson card for when he dropped 71 points.
YES, We need more cards for the Admiral, and they better be better. Lol better be better. Anyway, he is one of the 5 to have scored 70 or more, which is just crazy.
Tim Duncan - Best PF in NBA history
Yep
Best PG: Magic
Best SG: MJ
Best SF: LeBron
Best PF: Tim Duncan
Best C: Kareem or Hakeem
"There's heroes and there's legends. Heroes get remembered but legends never die."
Thank you, Tim. Enjoy retirement!
Greatest power forward of all time. Thank you Timmy!
3rd player to win 1000 regular season games... Greatest PF of ALL TIME
*ahemcharlesbarkley* ahem had somthin inma swallowin tube
duncan is better than barkley
Show 23 replies...timmy didnt average a double double his entire career
but timmy won 2 MVP's, the man is a 5 time champ. Timmy wasn't just a great individual player, he was also one of the best teammates and leaders. Barkley was great of course, should've won at least one championship, and he maybe the best player to not have won a ring, but Tim Duncan is just something else. He had almost everything you would want with a franchise player. Loyal and Determined to Lead his team all the way.
i think tim is just too basic, i mean like he had fundamentals, sure, but barkley was more of a showstopper (HOF) and i think that barkley couldnt win a ring because of MJ and he didnt really have a team. the spurs were always good.
I'm pretty sure 19 ppg 10 rpg is a double double
not for his entire career
thats his career average... and it would be higher if he hasn't taken a back seat and sacrificed his minutes for the past 5 years
barkley'scareer average- 22ppg and 11rpg HOF
5 rings
3 finals mvps
2 mvps
roty
do i really need to say anymore, its not close.
in th awards department sure, but again, HOFamer barkleys in the books.
Legacy, resume, leadership and skill, its tim duncan. He will make the HOF 1st ballot, Barkley is a top 30 player in my book but Duncan is top 10.
barkley has legacy, resume, skill, and more leadership than duncan. duncan always had a team. barkley didnt
OK. So Barkley never had a team? Valid argument. Duncan won a title in 3 DIFFERENT DECADES with three different playstyles, three different teams, and most importantly, as he got older and older. Barkley was selfish down the stretch and hucked up dumb threes instead of running the offense. Duncan was a master in the clutch, and was Bill Russell-like in running his defense. Barkley barely played defense (can't really blame him he was 6'5" but still). Duncan was better, period.
"hucked up dumb 3s" true. but still, barkley at least got to the finals against jordan and lost. but duncan wouldnt be able to get there without a team. like lebron and the 07 cavs. or iverson and the 01 sixers.
Or Duncan and the '04 Spurs...
duncan never made it to the finals that year, they were beat by the lakers
Wait I think it was another year let me look it up... yeah it was this year (2003) that he took a shit team to the Finals on his own
in 03 tim had tony, stephen jackson, david robinson, manu, steve smith, and robert horry.
Jackson was a nut (decent player tho) Tony was a rookie, Robinson was retiring the year after, Steve was past his prime along with Horry, and Manu was half decent.
Stats don't matter though
What he did for this Throwback Tursday?
Being the best PF ever
That's actually a good question tho cause don't know if it's for his 03 MVP season (already made one) or a single game performance.
Underrated. (IRL)
I don't think so, everyone has him above kobe in their top 10 lately. Me too
Overrated IRL
Overrated? He's hardly talked about
Show 25 replies...But when he is I see many people put him 3-10 all time, he should be no where near that high.
Explain why
Look at his stats, you can easily think of 10-15 players that are undebateably better, he's won rings, but what HOF big wouldn't on those Spurs teams? Like people put Duncan over Shaq, you think Shaq wouldn't win 5+ rings over 20 years on the Spurs? He won 4 rings in only about 6-7 years of contending, and even in those years he had worse teammates than Duncan. Duncan is a great team player who perfectly fits the Spurs, but he ain't gonna lead the 94-95 Rockets, the 95 Magic, 09 Magic, 11 Mavs to finals/championships like other great bigs. The only thing that gets him above guys like Dwight and Dirk is that he's been going well for 20 years, but I don't rate longevity much and many others were simply better at their peaks. So I guess it's down to personal opinion on how much longevity matters TBH :P
Seems like you only care about stats, and not the intangibles. Duncan is the greatest PF of all time, and a top 10 player of all time.
One sentence was about stats... And what are these "intangibles"?
Being a natural leader, he is always taking pay cuts so his team can rebuild and sign stars. Being clutch, unlike Malone, who missed those FTs in the Finals. Duncan is fundamentally sound. He might not put up those flashy numbers, but he is the definition of consistency. Could he lead a team by himself? I'm not sure, but when it matters, he shows up. Which is what this card is for, 2 blocks away from a quadruple double in the Finals.
The Spurs didn't have a leader, they all shared the duty. I don't see how taking a pay cut makes you better, David West for MVP? Duncan blew a near open layup in the last minute of game 7 vs the Heat down 2 in 2013. As mentioned above Ricky Rubio and MCW have nearly got quad dubs, Alvin Robertson and Nate Thurmond did and aren't even in the game!
Really? The Spurs didn't have a leader? Tim averaged 10 more points than their second highest scorer, Tony Parker/ He also averaged the most assists, rebounds, and blocks with 3 per game. Seems like he dominated, and he carried the Spurs in the 03 playoffs. Also. Rubio and MCW haven't almost gotten a quadruple double in the finals. And taking pay cuts isn't huge? He continues to take less money so his team can improve. Not a lot of people are willing to do that. Heck, Wade just left the Heat because he was tired of it. Duncan isn't the most dominant big, but he continued to be excellent for many years. And since you brought up the 95 Magic, what did they accomplish? Nothing. They got carried by Shaq and got destroyed in the Finals. I'll take dominance in the post season than in the regular season any day.
He never led the team in assists. And taking a pay cut doesn't make you a better player. Also the 1995 Magic wouldn't have got to the finals with Duncan instead of Shaq. Shaq needed to average 27 PPG on 66% shooting to get them the win in 7 against the Pacers, Duncan wouldn't do that.
Lmao wowww a PF never lead his team in assists how bad can you be.... cmon bruh
Onion incorrectly said that he led the team in assists, I corrected him...
Spurs went from worst to first between the year before Duncan came and the end of his second year
David Robinson was injured the year before Duncan was drafted, they were a contender with him healthy even before Duncan.
I think you're forgetting that Duncan was a truly dominant player in his prime. Between 1997 (his rookie year) and 2005, Duncan never averaged less than 20 points, 11 rebounds, or 2 blocks per game. That's an 8 year run of dominance, including his rookie year. Almost every year of his career until the past few, he was one of the top assisting big men in the league. I mean, Duncan could very well be considered the most complete big man of all time if Pop let him shoot the 3 ball, which he was definitely capable of doing well. And that is coming from someone who believes Wilt to be the GOAT. San Antonio never would have made any of their Finals without Duncan. David Robinson was entering the twilight of his career. Tim Duncan had a better PPG, RPG, and BPG average in the postseason. He is more clutch than any other PF in history (except maybe Bob Pettit or Robert Horry) and would undoubtedly hold that title had Derek Fisher not hit the 0.4 shot. He has 3 Finals MVPs, which, if I'm not mistaken, is the most by a PF in NBA history, as Dirk is the only other PF to win Finals MVP and he only did it once. What will always hold Malone back is that he always choked in the biggest moments. Every GOAT at a position had a defining moment in the Finals. Magic had the baby hook and the triple double. MJ had The Last Shot. LeBron had The Block. Bird (1A and 1B SFs) had the fadeaway over Magic to win Game 4 in 1984. Duncan had the near quad dub to win the Finals, Wilt had an unofficial near quad dub with a broken fucking hand to win the Finals in '72. Malone has the missed free throws, Barkley (love him as an Auburn fan) doesn't really have any moments, he played really well in the '93 Finals, the Bulls were just too good. McHale was the second option. Pettit dropped 50 on Bill Russell to win the Finals but he wasn't enough of a complete player to be the best PF ever. Dirk has never been the best defender so he's out. KG had "anything is possible" but he won his only ring as his team's third option. Really Tim Duncan is just the best PF of all time
Dirk is out?!?!?!? Sure he missed those free throws at the end of Game 3 in ´06 and lost to the Warriors with the 67 win team but how is he not in contention for top 3 PFs? He dominated the Big 3 Heat, won game 7 in ´06 vs TIM DUNCAN himself and all of that with way worse teams than TD. He is also the 7th best scorer in the history of the NBA and has one MVP, so I think you should reconsider
1. The 2011 Finals were a combination of the entire Mavericks team playing extremely well and the Heat choking on a fat cock. Dirk played great, but his teammates were also amazing. DeShawn Stevenson played absolutely out of his mind in that series, hitting 13 of his 23 three point attempts, playing amazing defense on LeBron, and he had an ABSURD +46 net rating. Jason Terry was great with 18 PPG on 50% from the field and 40% from three. Tyson Chandler had a +32 average net rating. Those three players were absolutely huge in their win. That's not to take away from Dirk, but his teammates also stepped it up big time. As for the Heat, Wade played amazing, but LeBron averaged just 18 PPG with a brutal 24 turnovers in 5 games, Chris Bosh had twice as many turnovers as assists and shot just 41% from the field, and their starting center was Joel fucking Anthony.
2. 2006 WCF stat lines for Dirk and Tim.
Dirk: 27.1 PPG, 13.3 RPG, 2.7 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.4 BPG, 52.7% FG
Tim: 32.3 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 3.7 APG, 1.0 SPG, 2.6 BPG, 55.6% FG
In Game 7:
Dirk: 37 points, 15 boards, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 11-20 FG
Tim: 41 points, 15 boards, 6 assists, 1 steal, 3 blocks, 12-24 FG
Not to mention, Dirk didn't even guard Tim. That was left to Erick Dampier
3. Total points are different from PPG. Dirk is 29th on the PPG list. And pretty much every PF in consideration for top 3 has an MVP, most of them have multiple MVPs
I guess that´s true. But Dirk deserves to be put amongst the best PFs of all-time, not at 1st because that is Duncan´s spot but second or third surely. What he did for Dallas is legendary and all with good teams, but not as good as Duncan´s. He was a good rebounder in his prime, I guess he´s defense was never that good, but he has always been so underrated with everything he has ever done in the NBA, every record he broke both league and franchise records. He is underrated and deserves consideration as a top PF, that´s all I am saying
Finally, a Tim Duncan card with some decent athleticism. Its still not perfect, but at least its good enough to compete with some of the more athletic cards out there. Though, it is low enough that he may be one of the cheaper Diamonds of this set.
best rebounder in the game
I love Tim, but Wilt is the best in my opinion
I agree because of his height and giving him a 9 vert shoe puts him at 91 vert which just unfair but stat wise, timmy is literally the best rebounder in the game if you box out and time the board you can outrebound wilt on some possessions.
Show 1 reply...Mr. Fundementals is here, he deserved this card before he retires. For all of you, what will be your advice if Tim Duncan IS GOING TO *retire*?
Won't be used because people think 65 speed is slow for a PF and that nobody likes being a faceup player
Tim Duncan just recently announced that he is retiring. So wish all the best to him and thank you for the great contribution you've gave to the Spurs and the NBA. You had great sportsmanship and always got it done on the court. Tim Duncan retired with 5 rings, 3 Finals MVPs, 2 MVPs, 15 All-Star selections, and the all-time leading scorer for the San Antonio Spurs. That sums up his amazing career.
Everybody go away this is my card :)
ITS MIIIINEE
Back off Outlaw. The Big Fundamental is mine
Show 13 replies...Okay... PIERCE, WILLIAMS, LEBRON AND EVERY DIAMOND IS MINE JUST NOT FUNDAMENTEL
No Vince is mine as well
Oh yeah.... lmao cause you're name is Vince Carter. BUT CHOOSE:
VINCE OR FUNDAMENTAL
Both lol
lol
Who would you choose?
Wade and LeBron lol
Although I hated the Heat (cause they always won and I'm a Celtics fan) I miss watching the duo of Wade and LeBron, they were so fun to watch
Yeah and were you disliking my comments?
No, why would I do that?
I'll like all of them tho
huh? IDK something is f*cking weird.... And yeah I know you woudn't i checked but it wasn't you....
I pulled him in a pack on Ps4 then sold him because he was just the same as the 97 overall.
He goes for so cheap on XBOX compared to PS4. But this card is an animal his stats are amazing
how much does he go for
200K which for a 98 is really good
Show 5 replies...ya its great price is lowballed because he isn't "flashy"
Its not about style its about skill
preach just like that 98 oscar
In my review about Avery Bradley the 91 playoff I talk about how players like AB are heavily underrated but have great stats like Avery Bradley is really cheap but his stats are insane
Goodbye Tim, will be missed. Arguably the greatest power forward of all time and shit.
No Duncan, OR Kobe next year in the NBA??? Times have changed....
ikr, but at least theres still Jason Terry...
And also don't forget KG, Pop said that he's gonna try and convince Duncan to come back, but I'd call that a long shot tbch. All that we can do now is honour the man for all that he did for the game!!
Show 1 reply...I was just pranking, turn around and your dad is holding a camera live streaming to youtube
stanky
this card if for the game he played in the finals where he almost got a quadriple double nigga
Jason Kidd had a quadruple double
He had a quadruple double with turnovers so it didn't count, last player to get a quadruple double was David Robinson
@tupac get some more active contributors, the last time this cards price was updated was 2 weeks ago smh
Timothy Theodore "Tim" Duncan (born April 25, 1976)[1] is an American professional basketball player who has played his entire career for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Widely considered to be the greatest power forward of all time, he is a five-time NBA champion, two-time NBA MVP, three-time NBA Finals MVP, and NBA Rookie of the Year. He is also a 15-time NBA All-Star[2] and the only player ever to be selected to both the All-NBA and All-Defensive Teams in every one of his first 13 seasons.[3]
Duncan started out as a swimmer and only began playing basketball in ninth grade after Hurricane Hugo destroyed the only Olympic-sized pool on his home of Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. He soon became a standout for St. Dunstan's Episcopal High School, and had an illustrious college career with the Wake Forest University Demon Deacons, winning the Naismith College Player of the Year, USBWA College Player of the Year and John Wooden awards in his final year. Duncan graduated from college before entering the 1997 NBA draft as the number one pick.
Off the court, Duncan is known for his quiet and unassuming ways, as well as his active philanthropy. He holds a degree in psychology and created the Tim Duncan Foundation to raise general health awareness and fund education and youth sports in various parts of the United States.[4]

should be 96 that performance wasnt that big of a deal
Only a near quadruple double to win the Finals
but at the end of the day its just a triple double
Show 19 replies...W that's a dick comment lolz
But at the end the day he's retiring so we should give him a 99
the 98 one is enough cause what can 2k upgrade that will make you want it more than this one
A 20-20-10 triple double with 8 blocks on the side. Reminiscent of Wilt in his 76ers days
the difference is wilt lost
Except he didn't
barely won in the finals or ECF
Won in the ECF 3 times while having to try and beat a dynasty and won in the Finals twice
He never took the game seriously most of the time. Never beat the Celtics in the playoffs during the Russell dynasty except once.
God yet another one of the people who believes all of the negative myths surrounding Wilt. The truth is that Wilt consistently destroyed Russell but was almost never surrounded with enough of a supporting cast to overcome the ridiculous amount of talent the Celtics had
Wilt always had a supporting cast and he played with more all stars and hall of famers than russell.
Yes, in his Lakers and 76ers days, when he was actually winning shit. In his Warriors days he had no one except Nate Thurmond like 2 years before he left. When Wilt left the Warriors they dropped more than 30 wins. When Jordan retired in 1993 the Bulls only last 2 more games the next season
there is no case for wilt in this debate so im not even gonna bother
11 rings
plus 5 mvps just in case you bring up robert horry or sam jones
There is absolutely a case for Wilt if you would just open your mind. He was the most utterly dominant player of all time. Russell won 5 MVPs because he was the Celtics' best player and they were the best team, not because he was the best player in the league. Russell had big choke moments, such as letting Bob Pettit drop 50 on him in the 1958 Finals and throwing the ball off of a cable holding up the basket in the 1965 ECF only to be saved by John Havlicek. Russell couldn't score the ball (insanely low FG% for a center). Wilt was an all-around monster in every facet of the game
Ricky Rubio almost got a quadruple double
So did MCW on his debut. Heck Alvin Robertson and Nate Thurmond got quad dubs and aren't even in the game!
Does Nate Thurmond not want to be in the game or have they not gotten around to realizing that he's an all time great. I think that the '74 Warriors would be a great team to play with. Rick Barry and Nate the Great and lots of other great players.
welp Nate passed away about a week ago
I know, such a sad death. I saw him irl though
They didn't even give him a moments card
[Deleted]
I don't think you realize that this Tim Duncan card is from when he ALMOST got a quadruple double
get bitched Skunny you spastic
smug ass nigga smh
No, you're right, they don't. But Timmy ACTUALLY got 21, 20, 10 and 8, he didn't just 'almost' get them.
so is 2k gonna make an hakeem or robinson diamond for actually getting quadruple doubles?
wait, that 1990 hakeem card, the 98 rated one was made specifically due to that quadruple double he achieved that season
Sorry, accidentally reported :/ Yeah they havent made a D-Rob for that quadruple and I doubt they will. Sucks they aren't releasing the premium moments (Wilt 100 points etc)
not a TBT, TBT cards are for people still currently playing today.
I didnt say TBT, I said moments. Like all those cheesy diamonds except its a moment card.
The cheesy diamonds are all TBT cards.
ik, but if they made a david robinson card similar to those TBT cards, it would most likely be a moments, thats what im saying
nah, moments are for this season (excluding MJ) maybe a historic or something because i really want a quad dub admiral.
Exactly, the MJ moments. Maybe it'll be a new series or something
yeah but that was a pre order bonus, idk though maybe.
Hakeem did it twice, there should be another one that is auctionablem cause im not collecting 2500 cards. And if the reward one is for his quad double, his playmaking should be higher
SCAL DID IT 5000 TIMES IT JUST YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED
I don't think so, sadly there are no Historic Moments cards. Though if there were, the Admiral and the Dream should get cards, along with Wilt and some other all-time greats
"historic moments" cards are tbt cards
TBT cards only exist for players that are still playing.
David Wesley, Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun prince have tbt cards and they aren't still playing.
Diamond TBT cards are moments cards for current players, but only the diamonds. The other cards are based on the season. 2K changed how they did TBTs based off people complaining there weren't enough diamonds. So, he is correct. There are no moments cards for historic players, TBTs are throwbacks for current players, but only the diamonds are based off single game performances. Read the announcements.

I would assume not because he has a shaky past.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2227019-alvin-robertson-the-fallen-and-forgotten-spur
This is a really great article on him I suggest you read it.
Sure he could deserve one too, 99 steal, good passing rebounding, and scoring depending on his thing, Im not familiar with Alvin Robinson that much. I just want a diamond Hakeem i can buy since hes the best Center and so i dont have to get 2500 damn cards when i only have 500
[Deleted]
No it's for the finals game. Most of the new diamonds r playoff performances except Deron Williams and not sure about pierce and Garnett. Though yes Duncan had an amazing year that year
Oooohhhhh forgot about the 97 OVR MVP card for a second my bad
Ya you good
that is a triple double,8 blocks
a near quadruple double
