This is bullshit, don't see how you can give 65 Bill Russell an 96 overall when Wilt pretty much averaged the same stats in 72

    0

At their respective ages, Bill was far superior defensively

You've got to look at Bill Russel like you would Rudy Gobert

    1

I realize that but Bill Russel was essentially a one-trick pony except for the first few years of his career. And 65' certainly wasnt his greatest season

Most people overlook Russell's passing and athleticism for a center. He wasn't a one trick pony; he was just not a scorer. He did everything else at a supremely high level.

    0

The '65 Bill Russell won't go down, because the Historic Roster of the '65 Boston Celtics have him at 96.

    8

G.O.A.T should be way higher overall.

    10

This was his last year in the league where he averaged about 13 PPG... 91 is generous, he only has that because of his previous seasons. Hopefully the MVP Wilt card is a 98-99 overall though, he deserves it.

    0

True, but Bill Russell gets a 96 overall for averaging similar stats. Also, this wasn't his last season. He retired in '73.

    0

Wasn't '73 not a full season though? Or am I just crazy

    0

The stats say that wilt played 82 regular season games and 17 playoff games in '73 so I guess it was a full season.

    0

For some reason I thought he retired halfway through a season, maybe it was Elgin Baylor? idk

    0

yep, elgin baylor retired halfway through the season

    0
    0

True, but look at all the Jordan cards, they are way better then the actual seasons the cards come from.

    0

Not true. The reward one (which is designed to be unrealistic) and the '98 one are the only ones which are too high.

    0

Jordan should never have a three that's over a C grade, and also just play with the cards, they may not have the stats, but they still play the exact same way.

    -1

Neither should Magic but he has it. Magic also shouldnt have that high speed. Russel's offense shouldnt be that good. Nash shouldnt have a card with anything above 70 defense. Birds card, while the stats are in the right places, are overall a little too high. Same goes for Kareem and the now defunct diamond Curry. All the game high cards, like JR's and Crawfords, shouldn't even exist.

My point is the diamonds have deliverately unrealistic ratings and you must treat them as such.

    0

Chill !!! i think that his stats will be updated like iverson nuggets card, first he was 93 and then 92

    8
    6

Wow just wow. Hopefully they'll release a card later that has proper ratings instead of this stupidly low BS. I know he was past his prime but come on, he matched Bucks Kareem IRL, and he got a 97.

    2

At this point in Wilts career he did not match Bucks Kareem.

    3

    Quote from bleacher report article:

In their first 11 meetings, Chamberlain was still able to (i.e. inclined to) score with Jabbar. In those first 11 games, Wilt averaged 22.8 ppg and 17.6 rebounds, while Kareem averaged 26.0 ppg and 15.6 rebounds.

In the 1972 season, Kareem outscored Wilt 201-70 in their five regular season games. In the six 1972 playoff games, Kareem outscored Wilt 202-67, but Wilt out-rebounded Jabbar and played better defense (i.e. shutting down the middle) when it counted.

Chamberlain himself went on an offensive tear in Game Six (bringing the Lakers back from a 10-point deficit), and led the Lakers to a series clinching victory, ensuring there would be no Game Seven.

Okay, Klayyyyy I know that Wilt is your favorite player and I can definitely agree that he doesn't deserve a 91 overall but you have to understand that everyone has a different opinion regarding who is the G.O.A.T. Where you think that Jordan is overrated others say Wilt is. Heck, I once met a guy on twitter who thought D-Rose was the best guard of all time. My point is you can't say people are Jordan fanboys because you are a Wilt fanboy (and I don't mean that in a bad way either). Despite this I do need respect that you have some valid arguments and I want you too know that you have actually convinced me that Wilt is top 3 G.O.A.T :)

    14

He isn't my favourite player and I'm not a fanboy.

I'm not sure I've told this story yet, the story of how I got into basketball. I'm from England and know maybe 2 people who regard themselves as NBA fans (I don't really know them, I just know of them) and in all honesty doubt they're aren't exactly experts on the game. I had no idea about anything to do with basketball a year and a half ago, I might have recognised the name "Michael Jordan" from a US show my sister use to watch, but that's literally it, when I got NBA 2K11 on PS3 (can't remember how), I actually left it aside for 2-3 years, I hated US sports (still hate "football") and quite frankly wanted nothing to do with it, one day my friend came round and for a joke we decided to play it, this was last year so the game was old and since I'd been playing FIFA for 10 years straight I didn't know how to play at all. After some square mashing, because we thought you could tackle (or as I have since learned "steal") the ball from your opponent as easily as you can in football (real football), my friend left and I decided to try the game out for a bit, although I had no idea how to play I quickly became a fan and was playing 2K11 for about 6 months (in 2014 remember), mainly with my 7'5 Kenyan center "Bisyuke Mutamba" or on my Raptors association, which I won 33 games straight on on rookie because I was too bad for the other difficulties... Over time I learned a lot about how to play basketball and became very interested in it, I began following the NBA during the 2014 CFs and learned a lot about the sport and its history from then on.

I got 2K15 in December with a PS4 and don't have any other games on it (mainly because I race go karts, only £300 a month...). This meant I spend almost all afternoon on 2K, and most of the night following the NBA. While doing this I have learned a lot about the history of the sport, without any bias media or face to face opinions.

Basically what I'm getting at is that my judgement is completely "pure" as I could put it. No people nailing that MJ's the GOAT into my head, no people nailing that rings matter into my head and no people nailing that the 60's were weak into my head. I effectively on the base of things like, or dislike all NBA players equally, everything I'm saying to you isn't from my culture, my friends, the media etc. It's from what only I think, the reason I hate on or Favor certain players isn't in any way some bias that you can say I have, but really just comparing what I think to what the people with a certain bias basketball culture, or some certain bias friends, or a certain bias media think. It's not really me hating on or favouring the players, but me hating on or favouring what people think of them. Because really what those people think is not pure at all, it's just all the bias' around them that creates an opinion that basically isn't their own. And the general bias opinions of NBA fans, whether it be them fanboying Lebron or Kobe because their friends do, whether it be them thinking MJ is a god and that rings make a player great because the media says so, whether it's them thinking the 60's was weak because a dumb online article said so, or whether it's simply them supporting their local team. It's all bias', and among basketball fans they're everywhere. I've never met a Wilt fan or a Jordan hater that's made my opinion, heck I've only really met people that disagree with me. But that's why I say my opinion, because it's "pure". I'm not fighting the players, or my against my own bias', but just the bias' of other people that my "pure" opinion disagrees with.

Sorry for the long comment, I just thought it would be a good time to share with you all why my opinions might be so different than the general opinions of NBA fans, and why I try to prove myself so much. ;)

    12

Klayyyyyy, let me say first of all, thanks for taking the time to write this comment. this has actually opened my eyes and go back and spend 30 min reading your PD MJ comments from last year, and instead of me thinking, THIS GUYS DISRESPECTING MJ, and not even reading it, to wow, this guy has a great point... and guess what? i agree wilt is GOAT. you have opened my eyes and made me change my opinions. oh and nice story ;) thanks for sharing your opinion on mj, no matter what people said. Guys, all you klayyyyy haters, go back to his old comments and acually read it, we all know you guys didnt.. ;)oh and by the way...

"heck I've only really met people that disagree with me"
    NOT ANYMORE

yo fr congrats on 1K likes

    3

    why the dislike?

    3

    Probably ChriSmoove or YaBoiAvo

    2

lol probably. imma go wit YaBoiAvo

    4

Hey Klayyyyyy I appreciate the post. And no you are not the only one who thinks that Wilt is the GOAT. I have been a ball fan since i was 7 or 8 while watching the Bulls beat the Jazz in the 98 finals. I used to think jordan was the goat but as i got older and studied the history of the game i started to form the conclusion that WIlt is the goat. But really thats my opinion and everyone has one. And people shouldnt downvote you just because you have a different one. Also i want there to be debate about the goat. I think it is crazy that so many people will say Jordan is the GOAT and if you debate it that you must know nothing about basketball

    3

Yep, if you dig deep into basketball history you can find things that ordinary fans can't. I also find it annoying that the GOAT debate isn't a thing, because it should be and it would be interesting. But the only people I see as being in the conversation are Wilt, MJ, Magic, Oscar, Lebron (at this rate) and possibly even Baylor. If this was a debate then I think people would respect opinions a lot more and wouldn't be afraid to say their opinions, which unfortunately they understandably are ATM. I'm glad I've changed that on this site though!

    1

Klayyyyy, I know this is a stupid question, but why is your name klayyyy? Is it after klay Thompson, or if your name klay, or what.

    2

I created my account just after Klay's 37 point quarter. I had no idea what to put as my name until the Warriors commentators popped into my head, you know how they were going crazy and stuff so "Klayyyy" was the first thing I thought of. Just a random name really. I'm not a Warriors fan or anything.

    0

SInce when have people been scared to say things on the internet? If anything people are less afraid when they just typing behind a computer screen. They all kinds of crazy shit on blogs and shit. I don't think anybody is scared ATM at all. Just because everyone doesn't say the same things u say doesn't mean they r scared. It ain't no North Korea or Cold War Communist type of situation where if someone says something bad against someone and people find out and take it the wrong way, they gonna be facing consequences. People say whatever the hell they want on here, what do they have to be scared of? What if someone says some 2K bronze or silver player is better than someone who is an all time great or something like Scalabrine or is the GOAT, and even if they serious about it, what's gonna happen?, people disagree and maybe say the r dumb or an idiot at worst. Why do u say u think people are scared?, and what r they scared of?

    1

It is indeed worse saying stuff IRL. But that's not my point. Did you see the hate I was getting at first (when we were debating)? People are scared because if they disagree with the consensus opinion they will face endless hate and anger, like I did. If you say Jordan isn't the GOAT to a load of people IRL they'll probably make you feel a lot worse than people on the Internet, but from my own experience it definatly isn't easy saying all that stuff online. It's also the US culture, I don't have any friends that follow basketball in England so I haven't grown up knowing that I will get endless hate for saying Jordan isn't GOAT. So when I said it on this site I didn't know the hate would be as bad as it was, people in the US know how much people will hate on them, and it is understandably scary.

    0

maybe it's just a cultural thing, but the reason people get mad is when u say things in stuck up kind of way like everyone else is such an idiot. Just state your opinion is and say what u feel is all that's need, not saying things like "look at post from earlier, it'll explain why you're wrong" and that type of shit is why people get mad at u bro. Sometimes u come across arrogant as hell, like u know all and can never be wrong.

    0

If I made a post already explaining why what someone has said is wrong then what else am I meant to say?

    0

or simply say u disagree or whatever, u ain't gotta be extra polite

    0

You could say read my post for a good argument against your point or you have a difference of opinion, or something like that. If it's a clear fact then ok u can say something is wrong if it is like how many points someone averaged in a certain season. But on something that's a matter of opinion, like who is a better player, it's debate-able and to straight up say u r right and someone else is wrong sounds stuck up, cocky, and arrogant and conveys a lack of respect. If u talk to people they r an idiot they get offended sometimes. I mean say what u feel, if u want to do that then do it. It's your choice, obviously. Sometimes it's funny tbh, I'm just trying to explain to u why sometimes people get irritated at u cuz it seems like u can't understand for yourself. Show people respect, and in most cases, people will give the same respect back.

    0

Compared to some people (*cough AROD, J_Oak, ChriSmoove) I don't think I'm too offensive, this is the Internet, if people disagree they generally have a rage filled argument about who is right.

    0

yeah I never said u were the most offensive, just that u acted like an expert a lot. I recognized your posts, cuz u post a lot, and a lot of your posts r long. I don't always notice what those guys post, and I don't understand at all why people get to the point of rage about an internet post, but for some reason some people do.

    0

To me "Jordan is the GOAT" believers are the ones who act like that, not individually, it`s just that the sheer number of them and the way you see Jordan casually referenced as the GOAT like it`s a 100% fact everywhere makes it seem like all of them are experts, just because they think Jordan is the GOAT, even if they aren`t basketball fans. While if anyone says otherwise they are treated like a fool.

    0

that's young ass peer pressure shit for kids. If u a man u say what u feel, and ain't nobody gonna care. I don't hate any player, I don't love 1 single player better than the rest. I'm just a fan of them game I've been watching for over 25 years. Somebody can say Manute Bol if the greatest player in nba history, and ain't nobody gonna care. They may debate it, but it ain't that serious. It's just somebody's opinion. But when it's kids with that young mindset it can be different. No offense to anyone young. And I ain't no old man, I'm lil older than most people on here, I'm 32.

    0

Yeah I remember what peer pressure can do to people. I just do my own thing.

So if you're 32 now you were 12 in 1996?

    0

and ain't nothing wrong with not being in love with Jordan. I know u realize he was good though, u say he's 2nd best all time. Then other times though u talk like he sucked and barely helped his team, just respect the fact that he was a great player is all u gotta do. I ain't no MJ dick rider, and I'm from Chi. I like any good player or team, I ain't the type to hate any player. If they in the NBA they got game or are just huge, with makes them good enough that I respect their game. And I never said Wilt didn't have great DNA or whatever. He's one of my favorite old school players. I was just saying I don't know he could put up 100, or average 50 pts and rebounds if he was in his prime today.

    0

I don't hate the players, just the general opinion of them. The whole thing on this topic is above somewhere

    0

No 33, mistyped. Born in 82 and will be 34 in May. I was 14 or 15 and was in 8th grade in 96

    0

Played basketball since I was young buck and played AAU from 3rd grade thru HS and started at SG/PG my junior and senior year of HS. I had some offers for college, but I fucked around in the dope game and it caught up with me. 5 or 6 dudes kicked the door of my buddy's stash house and I got stabbed a few times and a sliced my Achilles fighting them off til the 18 guage came out and they all ran out

    0

    Damn...

    0

Yeah it's cool though, I wasn't pro material, I was crazy athletic, super quick and fast and could dunk regulation 2 handed pretty easy, I had a 40+ inch vertical, but I'm only 5'10", and liked to party too much in college. Maybe if I was like at least 3 inches taller, I would've taken it more seriously and tried to rehab my ankle. It healed fine though after a couple years, and I was still dunking, but not as easily

    0

Wow. Where I live (English countryside) stuff like drugs, gangs, guns etc. seem worlds away, I did live in a city when I was a really young kid but my parents wouldn`t let me go far. Cant really remember it though. From what i`ve heard Chicago is one of the worst places for stuff like that.Did your attackers get arrested?

    0

Chicago has bad places, but a lot of good places too. But it's fucked up in parts mostly all because people, even high school kids and younger get a taste of some shit and love it so much they don't care about anything else from then on, but getting that high. And damn near everyone tries it at least once, some get hooked, some don't, but some pure ass shit comes into Chi, especially H. All the kids come straight from the suburbs west on 290 and have a thousand places they can copp whatever the fuck they want, and it's hella easy and quick. Before u know it they end up living down there. There's so many kids from good families living in abandoned houses and shit firing up that hella pure shit. a few get clean, most die and get locked up on both sides. Sellers and buyers. There's competition for the $ and that brings violence, especially with all the gangs up here. It's wild bro, be glad u live in a peaceful place.

    0

Damn the worst we get in my area is a little weed, not that i`ve ever come close to it, a few kids did it when I was in high school but none were exactly dependant on it. Where I lived when I was real young had some bad areas, that`s partly why my parents moved but some of the stuff you hear about some US cities is unimaginable in the UK.

    0

weed ain't that bad, it won't get u hooked the same way. I'm sure you've seen at least on TV, what hard drugs can do to people. They say it's hell and they get sick as fuck for days when they stop using H

    0

Yeah I remember a week in middle school where we were taught about drugs and their effects. They said heroin was the worst, my father has friends who did it too, but I don`t know them.

    0

it's just the most addictive and easiest to OD from. Every time some one shoots it they r usually trying to get a high as high as possible and just barely not overdose. Some people do it their whole life and r ok if they have the $ and know what they r doing. The drug is not actually that bad for u if u have supply, but that's very expensive. It's the lifestyle that kills people. The cut in it is bad for you, depending what is used to chop it up. It can fuck up your heart lining and veins. If you shot pure herion and used safe needle practices and ate properly and lived the rest of your life normal u could end up ok, but that never happens. I'd say Meth is the worst it takes over your mind and causes long term damage to it and your body. Eats your teeth out and just turns u into a zombie that never sleeps.

    0

You did all this stuff? Or just witnessed it?

    0

You live in the city u see plenty of shit... I'm sure the same shit goes down in London too.

    0

I witnessed how the shit is cut and sold. I'm 33 bro, I've seen a lot of shit. I've seen some people I know go down the wrong road and get caught up in it. Other shit just know by reading or watching TV. Watch drugs.com on NatGeo or read it on Wikipedia. U learn something new everyday, and I've had a lot of days... Hopefully plenty more to come.

    0

No they wore masks. And in that game u don't call the police anyway no matter what happens. It's just the code, cuz nobody want the police to be called on them so u just don't do that. I mean people do snitch, but if it's found out they r never trusted again and prob gonna get fucked up, especially if they put anybody in. Plus it would be a retarded move to call the police to a stash house with $50K or so all kind of illegal shit in the safe. It had to moved out anyway before we went to the hospital, but not til we were sure there was no one else on the block and we had it locked down. Other people in our crew moved it to a new spot. Normally I wouldn't even talk about something like this online, but it was 15+ years ago by now, statute of limitations is up and I'm out that game. I've got a college degree so no need.

    0

I didn`t necessarily ask if you called the police, I just assumed they tried to do something.

    0

oh yeah no, they just drove on out. I saw one of their faces, and we got a license plate #, but it was stolen apparently. They just bounced and no one ever knew who they were

    2

Wow that's very insightful and I hope it helps people to stop hating on you just because you aren't in love with Jordan. Personally I love Kobe, I don't think he's the best at all, I just grew up watching him.

    4

    Yep :)

    4

    1000th comment. ;)

Glad to be the second highest commenter on this site, I'm not sure ARod feels the same about his 1000 comments howether...

    1

Congrats! Let me see what I can do about that -582 votes, I have a feeling 50% of them are from only a few users..

    2

    You the real MVP

    0

Hey ahh I just realized my roommate is Michael Jordan 2.0 so don't worry I dealt with him and he won't be posting anymore troll comments ok :)

    1

NO. WAY. lol but for real, thats funny

    0

    fuckk this site im outt

    0

I'm sorry but I can't let you dislike 500 of his comments. If there are people like you constantly downvoting then I will have no choice but to limit downvoting ability or remove it altogether. It shouldn't be my job to take care of stupid arguments in the comments but I have to keep this a positive community.

    0

i downvoted klaay like 80 times but u just took away like everything i ever did

    2

You're trolling dreams have been destroyed. I might try trolling some time, maybe call my account Curryyyy and then reveal to you all I'm actually Klayyyy, that would be fun but I'm not that type of person :). Bye ARod or whoever you are, Danny maybe? Unless he's ARod too...

Or maybe you're all "good boy" Hamish 10? That would be a plot twist! Damn this websites been messed up by all this so bad that that seems totally possible...

    0

And if everything you ever did was downvote then I don't know why you are wasting your time here.

    0

I took away all your downvotes, almost 600 of which were on Klay. You know I can see exactly who downvotes what?

    0

i think the best thing here to do is say that...

    -1

    IM AROD_ BITCHESSS

    5

Nice try, but your IPs don't match. Should I give you the benefit of the doubt and ban you for duplicate accounts? That wouldn't be fun for either of us :)

    3

Knowing ARod he could completely reasonably buy a load of devices just to troll people...

    -1

could i just get banned, i don't want to come to this fucking website anymore.

    0

    No, never!

    2

It appears another troll needs dealing with, remember ChriSmoove? Yeah he's back...

    1

If he wants to dislike a few of your comments he disagrees with that is fine, if he dislikes every comment you make I will remove his dislikes.

    -2

GO TO MY PROFILE AND LOOK AT MY CREATED CARDS! YOULL SEE A 0 OVERALL BRONZE CARD CALLED KLAYYYYYY THATS HOW MUCH HE PISSES ME OFF

    -2

HE DISLIKES ALL OF MY COMMENTS AND LINEUPS LAST YEAR BECAUSE HES A BITCHY H8ER

    2

Because you did it to me first... I didn't know of Tupac then so I just leave trolls to him now.

    2

klayyy actually comments basketball stuff unlike you trolls. (Arod, ChriSmoove, YaBoiAvo, Danny, ect.)

    1

For one I would like to thank you for sharing your story with us. I mean it when I say it was a privilege to get to know you better. When I say fanboy I mean someone who thinks their favourite player is the G.O.A.T (perhaps it wasn't the best term to use). I actually agree with a lot of your opinions. All I am saying is that your never gonna change some peoples mind about certain players (especially trolls). I too grew up away from the NBA and US media, in Australia actually. When I was younger I too never had "people nailing that MJ's the GOAT into my head" and I also feel like I too had a pure judgement on who were the greatest players and who weren't. When I was about ten my cousin gave me tapes of the late 80's and not knowing much about basketball I didn't really touch them for a few years, however I when I finally watched them I was immediately hooked. The only problem was my friends had never even heard of basketball so I couldn't really talk about it with anyone. What I am trying to get at is that I totally understand where your coming from and I too am sorry for the long comment ;)

    1

Klayyyyyy, you've opened my eyes to a new GOAT.

    3

Yay, just glad that people are no longer scared to say "(anyone other than MJ) is GOAT"

    -1

Yeah, when I'm with other people IRL or on Twitter, people hate me when I deny the MJ GOAT statement

    -1

Who do you think is the GOAT?

    0

    Jordan

    -1

    Crawford?

    Stfu Michael Jordan asshole

Wow, your quote, "I had no idea about anything to do with basketball a year and a half and," and now u an expert of basketball history. That's quite amazing.

    -1

But u dont know how to spell. favourite its spelt favorite

    5

    *you.
    *don't.
    *Favourite (CAP)
    *it's.

I'm English, we prefer not to destroy our own language and use the proper spellings like the rest of the world. Which is clearly to much for the US to handle.

    US = Favorite
Rest of the world = Favourite

    ME=Dont give a FUCK

    U=SHUT THE FUCK UP

wtf do u do with your day

    0

Well today I woke up at 8 AM, went to my sixth form school for most of the day and came home, watch a British TV show that I watch everyday, and now I'm on 2KMTcentral for about 10 minutes.

After this comment I'm going to revise for my A-level exams, which i'm currently taking, then maybe go on my PS4, might try to fix 2K or something, then I'll go karting at my local track like I do every week to practice for the championship I compete in, then I'll have tea, watch the football league 2 playoffs and go to sleep ready for my A-level Chemistry exam tomorrow. I would likely play some football manager on my laptop first but it broke :(

So yeah, only a few minutes of my day are spent on 2KMTC. I will probably go on it a lot more when my exams finish though.

    6

SOMEBODY GIVE #bucketsquadalltheway A DAMN MEDAL

    3

If you look at youtube videos of wilt, he actually had an amazing fadeaway. 60 post fadeaway is pathetic.

    0

Agree, but his Prime card will have high 90's post fade. Wilt ended up using post moves more in later parts of his career. the 60 wilt card already has a 92 fade and if the 62 card is released he'll probs manage a 98 fade. Its just that these old Wilt lakers cards are supposed to reflect the fact that wilt resorted to post moves and a lot of passing (only C to ever lead the league in assists).

    2

Imagine if Wilt didn't leave the league. He probably would of played until his 50s :3 jk probs 40s

    -3

If he never left the league he'd still be playing today. Wtf is that supposed to mean? And I know he died so he wouldn't be playing today, but you know what I mean.

    5

He said until his 50's. The Nets actually offered him a return when he was 50 and there's a video of him lifting weights at the same age, the offer might have just been for attention but it seemed a legit possibility.

He said if he didn't leave the league, he would have played until his 50s. Yeah, no shit. If he didn't leave he would have still been playing until he left.

    -1

what i meant was, imagine what he COULD OF DONE. Imagine Wilt at the age of 40 averaging 40 points a game and 20 rebounds.

    2

Bruh, thats just rampant fangirlism. Wilt was putting up average numbers by the end of his career, if he played until his 40s he would've been averaging 2ppg and 6rebounds lol

    0

He wasn't even doing that anymore by his mid 30s so I doubt he would still average that.

    0

    [Deleted]

    0

    What are you talking about?

Last time he averaged 40 points was when he was 27, in his 30s his highest ppg was 27.3. That season, he averaged 18 rebounds.

By his last season, 13 points per game, down from 18 the year before. Far removed from 40 points per game.

    2

The average height of a center in the 60' was about 6'9". The whole 6'6" 220 lb center theory is a complete myth, as the 1960s was chalked full of great big men including Russell, Chamberlain, Bellamy, Reed, Thurmond, and many more.

    3

    Thank you, my point precisely.

Funny you mentioned 6'6, because the shortest true center of all time, Chuck Hayes, is 6'6. He actually signed with he Clippers last week. That's right last week, not the 50's, not the 60's, but in "giant filled" 2015...

    0

Average center in 1960 was actually 6'11.4" BAREFOOT. Centers were taller and lankier because it was better for the fast paced game. Anthony Davis (now that he's gained weight, not him as a rookie) was the prototype build for a 60's center

    2

Here are some facts about one of my favorite players of all time. Wilt Chamberlain was probably the most athletic basketball player ever. He was a 7'1 center that had a speed of a guard and a crazy good vertical (in his prime). People look at his free throw % and think that he was trash at shooting. He was actually a decent midrange shooter with an amazing post fadeaway: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8O9MgNfcGJA (i'm talking about his prime). People also think that he was good just because of his height. Manute Bol and Gheorge Muresan were 7'7 so, by that logic, they should be the best basketball players in history. I really hope he will get a 99 overall throwback card later because this 91 overall rating is BS!

    -6

People don't say he was good only because of his height, they say he was that good because of his height at that time. If Manute Bol or Muresan played at that time, they would be hall of famers. WIlt is obviously much better though. And at this point in his career he is lucky to get a 91, he wasn't nearly as good when he was on the Lakers.

    5

Average height of center in 1971: 6'9"

Average height of centers in 1980's-90's: 6'10"

Average height of centers today: 6'10

Height has nothing to do with it

Did you just make those numbers up? How about you do some research and check how many 7 footers there were back then, and how many there are now.

    4

There were 9 teams then and 30 now, what do you expect?

    1

    [Deleted]

    1

Where did you get 10 assists from? His career high in assists was 8.6 a game, when he was 31. His assists per game at 36 was 4.5.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/chambwi01.html

Check if you don't believe me.

    0
    -1

Also at 36 he averaged 13.2 points per game. 30 and 10 is way different than 13 and 4

    -1

The average height of a center recorded in 1961 was 6'11.06 From 1989 to 2011 the average height of a center was 6'10.44 #Facts. Go look it up

    -2

Where did you get this information?

    -1

I do research. Go on the internet and do YOUR research.

    -2

Yeah, I did. It doesn't say that anywhere. Don't talk to me about research little boy.

    -1

Don't be mad cuz you're wrong. I'm most likely older than you

    -1

No you're probably not. And research involves backing up your shit with sources or you might as well have not done research. Maybe they'll teach you that in high school.

    0

Note: All measurements taken barefoot. So Kobe is actually 6'4"-6'5", LeBron is 6'6"-6'7", Chris Paul is 5'11", Pau Gasol is 6'10"-6'11", etc.

    0

Let's compare the size of players at each position in 1962 to 1989-2011
    Point guards in 1962: 6'1.89"
    1989-2011: 6'1.02"
    Shooting guards in 1962: 6'4.45"
    1989-2011: 6'3.76"
    Small forwards in 1962: 6'6.08"
    1989-2011: 6'6.4"
    Power forwards in 1962: 6'7.83"
    1989-2011: 6'7.95"
    Centers in 1962: 6'11.06"
    1989-2011: 6'10.44"

Then how come Swede Halbrook (a 7 foot 3 inche center) averaged 5.5 ppg and 6.6 rpg in the two season he played? This is a player who in college only just lost to the Bill Russell led University of San Francisco 57-56 in the NCAA tournament.

    Show 1 reply...

He probably wasn't as good as Bol or Muresan, and he was 4 inches shorter than either of them.

    1

Wilt is hands down the G.O.A.T (Sorry Scalabrinie). He deserves at least a 98.

    1

I don't even care how much ya'll say hes underrated. He's mostly a better Amethyst than the Historic Hakeem ya'll noobs

    0

They need to make him a Warriors card where he averaged 50 ppg and he better be a 100 overall

    0

Agree, if someone deserves a 100 its throwback wilt!

    100 FRICKIN OVERALL THOUGH!?

Would that make him !00 overall though?

Well 1972 for Wilt wasn't exactly the GOAT season.

    0

Wilt is the #1 Rebounder of all time in the NBA by a LONG shot while he only played 13 or so seasons and not having max rebounding stats is crazy.

    1

Because adjusting for the pace of the 60s to the modern era his rebounding numbers aren't as good as Dennis Rodman's. Dennis Rodman is statistically the greatest rebounder in the history of the NBA. No discredit to Wilt but Rodman would steal rebounds from teammates and would never attempt second chance shots by kicking the ball back out and then prepping for more offensive rebounds. It's just the way it is.

    3

What people need to consider about Wilts rebounding is that he was doing it while taking 35-40 shots a game, thereby him averaging 25 RPG is way more impressive than Russell averaging 25 RPG or Rodman averaging how ether many RPG adjusted to the 60's. If you add a quarter to Wilts RPG to adjust to taking as many shots as Rodman did then he averages 30-35 RPG in the 60's. So probably around 15-20 RPG in the 90's, the same as Rodman.

    Show 3 replies...
    0

Taking more shots would only help inflate your rebounding, no? Rodman averaged for his career a TRB% of 23.44% meaning he scooped up 23.44% of every available rebound on average for an entire career and he was 6'7...Was the only player since the 60s and since in NBA history to average at least 18 rebounds per game in a much much slower paced era. Holds every conceivable record for offensive and defensive rebounding percentage. I love Wilt but we can't pretend his numbers aren't a result of the far higher amount of possessions in the 60s compared to now.

    2

I meant that Wilt shot 35-40 shots per game himself, so thereby had 35-40 less rebounds to grab. I'd say it's close between them, Rodman was a more skilled and scrappy rebounder while Wilt was more of a power rebounder. Maybe V an average center it could go either way, but V eachother I doubt Rodman would be able to deal with Wilts height, athleticism and strength, the last 2 being Rodman's advantage over an average center.

    1

While I don't think any player could compete with Wilt's strength and athleticism, let's not forget Rodman used to shut down and out rebound Shaq despite being one of the smallest guys Shaq matched up with. Rodman isnt new to being physically mismatched both on defense and on the glass. I think Rodman could hang with Wilt on the boards if they played against each other.

    2

Yeah, Rodman is definitely the greatest offensive rebounder ever, thats how he got his nickname. But Wilt still deserves better rebounding stats IMO

    0

Smh all the "underated" comments when in reality in this season his per36 stats are only slightly better then DEANDRE JORDAN, albeit with lower efficiency. DJ is also the 3rd choice player on his team on offense and tbh isn't even an offensive player in the first place. Imo this card should be 87 max.

    0

60 post fadeaway? Thats just bs

    0

How well do you know the nab 2k ratings? Find out on this quiz: http://www.jetpunk.com/user-quizzes/170641/2015-16-players-by-2k-rating

    0

FUN FACT: Wilt was an okay free throw shooter in his young bball days until he changed his underarm freethrow to the one he does now which looks autistic. Rick barry helped him to do the underarm freethrow again but wilt just never managed.

    0

Since there's no 98 overall yet, I don't see a reason for 2k NOT to make the '61-'62 version of the G.O.A.T. center a 98. IMO

    0

Wilt has a diamond card in NBA 2k16 why isin't it in here.

    0

how does 2K figure out what wilt chamberlain's 3PT rating is if the 3point line wasn't around when he played?

    0

There are advanced stats still around for how players shot at a certain distance from the rim, even back then

    0

Him and old KAJ and MJ should all be gold

    0

Too expensive right now, you can buy DPOY Hakeem, DPOY Dwight and DPOY David Robinson for the price

    0

    slow as fuck

    0

Wilt's post fadeaway should be in the mid 80s here

    0

This should be a diamond. Or have a moments card when he scored 100 points

    2

There is no way this should be a diamond when Wilt averaged 14.2 points and 19.2 rebounds that year. The reason for that is because Kareem, who is a 97, was averaging 34.8 points and 16.6 rebounds

    0

I am not saying this year but, a diamond Wilt no matter what kinda card

    Show 1 reply...
    2

I agree that Wilt should definitely have a diamond card. It should be from the 60s though. Or even a moments.

    1

If there is going to be a moments, it would be released in about two days. Since it would be the anniversary of his 100 point game. If one isn't released then, we are probably not getting one.

    0

these stats are actually accurate...... (should be higher IMO)

    Here Think about it:
    Andre Drummond: 89 overall / 16-15-1
    Wilt Chamberlain '72: 91 overall / 15-19-4

    0

This card probably has the most comments on it of all the 2K16 cards...

    -3

Did you just make those numbers up? How about you do some research and check how many 7 footers there were back then, and how many there are now.
