Dude I could care less how overrated y'all think he is. I just packed him so I think he should be a 99 lmfao

Isn't he just a beast? :D My bill only have like 10 gold badges atm. but he doesn't make me feel the lack of badges.I don't even have Posterizer or Relentless finisher but he posterizes every single person. If he can't it's either a hardly but surely taken layup or 2 shots from the line.

Yeah he's a monster a used him in a couple games and he racked up the numbers

Oh look guys, Im a 2k visual game designer, and my team has fucked up so bad that Bill Russell ONCE AGAIN looks absolutely nothing like himself in game whatsoever. Cant wait to release another asian Vince Carter and a dorky, chubby, sideburn Jerry Lucas. Also we apologize for taking out ALL muscle modifications, we just wanted Shaq, Draymond and Malone to look fat, and Ben fuckin Wallace to look like a sissy. Hope you enjoy the realism! (Y)

He looks like a lego Ray Lewis

Lmao in game he looks like fucking James Edwards

Someone please tell me how Wilt Chamberlain is only 91 and Bill Russell is 96 & 97?

They only include 71 and 72 Wilt cards...he truly was past his prime and a 91 may be a bit low but its not totally unfair. Dont worry I think Wilt may be the greatest player ever and Russell aint even in my top ten...So to sorta answer ur question...Theyre releasing a prime Wilt and he will be above a 96 and hopefully will make it all the way to a 99 overall :) Dont worry no one thinks Russell deserves more than Wilt. Wilt is the man.

he averaged about 15 points and 19 rebounds in 72 but that MVP wilt should be a 98 IMO. but it's still the best center in the game IMO

    Show 6 replies...

well right now I think diamond Shaq is the best as well as the rarest cuz ive played with both. But If Wilt gets his 1962 card it will undoubtedly be the best C card

I have wilt. I've never used diamond shaq but comparing the stats, I'd still keep wilt over shaq cuz the speed, post fade, and mid-range

yeah I understand, but try the all star Shaq and you will see he's unstoppable :p

well I wanna actually try him in anything other than gauntlet, but wilt is a whole lot cheaper because the diamonds for the all stars were almost impossible to pull. but I do think they're going to bring back all the gems of the game packs with the increased odds, so maybe I'll get shaq then

Yeah I hope so! Cuz atm the 98 rated Magic and 97 Shaq are impossible to get cuz theres like 1 on the auction each week...

and they go for like 700k + which is unattainable especially with the auction house values decreasing

I think Bill deserves this card, but other better players deserve better

    Show 1 more reply...

Wilt deserves a Moments card for his 100 point preformace tho. And this is also insane. Bill Russel over Wilt? Really 2k? Wilt deserves a 96 DIAMOND OVERALL.

    Show 6 replies...

Yeah but again its SORT OF acceptable that Old Wilt doesn't have a diamond...The Prime Wilt will refs have 99 or 98. Although its rookie wilt he deserves that! If they release 62 Wilt then he'll refs have 99 overall...but I also agree Russell is a bit overrated...He may be the greatest champion and teammate...but Teammate isn't a stat in 2k...so sorry but he's gotta be lower

    Yeah. I agree with you.

But I see what ur saying! And if Prime Wilt isn't also a 99 then ill be pissed...He has to be the greatest to ever play along with MJ and Kobe or Lebron or Magic or whoever else you're a fan of. All those guys better have 97-99 rated cards

Russell was a great player no question. Defensively he was probably the best defender ever, and certainly the best center. Also, he played smart and could block shots a lot but also positioned himself very well - so much so that he would block shots towards teammates and they were basically like outlet passes. Also, he was very athletic from what I've watched and could pass really well for a center. It was his focus on defense and rebounding along with IQ that took his game to an elite level. Offensively, he doesn't seem great from what I've seen so he is a bit overrated on this card probably - but I can't say for sure. 96 isn't a ridiculous rating for him though and besides Wilt has a 97 overall MVP card.

I meant to say best defensive center^

because Bill Has 11 Championship Rings

Lets say udonis haslem has 3 championships you think this matters his skills?

    Show 1 reply...

Bill Russell is one of the greatest players of all time obviously you haven't seen highlights or anything of him he deserves a 98 over all card and wilt does too but Bill is one of the greatest of all time at his position

    cuz bill was better

Bill Russell won 11 rings 11!

ur a fan cuz hes from Philly lol

For the years that they have Wilt at 91 and 92 OVR, Russell in this year was much better, even offensively actually. But the MVP Wilt should be a 97-99 and this should be like 91-93 realistically

Blocks are so op in this game

Bought this card yesterday, not sure if I regret it. He's as good defensively as he looks especially with a +9 speed shoe he flies around the court on D, and on offense he for some reason is quite good there too. He's like Dwight Howard without the cock back dunk animations.

My gripe with this card so far (only 3 games with him so idk) is that he doesn't hit the glass as much as I'd like. He's grabbed quite a few offensive rebounds for me but I've yet to have a 10 rebound game with him when I routinely have 10+ rebound games with Moments KAT

You think his price will go down? Or steadily rise?

Not going back up at all imo, if anything it might go down and I'm worried I may have overpaid by 50-100k. I see him staying around or slightly above 300k because the diamond border alone gives value to cards regardless of how they play. Regardless it's nice to have another real diamond legend on the team and he wasn't extremely expensive so I might keep him.

    Show 9 replies...

I'm thinking of getting him as an upgrade from my dpoy Dwight. I'm on Xbox and he's already very cheap and I can afford him. I've tried him on blacktop and his defense was insane and he was grabbing seemingly all the rebounds. Also, like you said his athleticism was like Dwights and although he is a bit slower and less strong, he has higher acceleration. His hook is the sky hook animation and in general I like his interior scoring. I don't need to use him as a go to scorer anyways. I wanted to know if you think he's worth it (He's less than 275K on Xbox already)

Give it until the end of the week. I stupidly spent 400k on him so I've had to resell him at a 100k loss. He might dip down to lower than 250k by the end of the week and he's well worth that price imo

I took a chance on DPOY Dwight like that and wasted 80K because I could have bought him way cheaper 2 days later.

I saw him 220K which I think is a great price. Did you sell him because you are planning to buy him again when he drops further or do you not want him?

Gonna buy him again if the price is right. If I can find one for 200k I'm snagging it up

Its funny how there are some for 140k currently

Okay cool thanks for the opinion on the card. I am doing the Kareem challenges so I will pair them at PF and C if I buy Russel.

I've seen him at under 200K multiple times on Xbox

Yeah now that's his normal price. I bought him before it dropped for 220k

Lol you already know Moments Kristaps would dominate Russell... height KILLS.

I've played this Russell against moments Drummond, diamond Cousins, DPOY Hakeem and even a Gheorge Muresan he's dominated all of them on both ends. Moments Kristaps would be a walk in the park for Bill

    Show 1 reply...

I agree. He's not super tall, but he's a fucking stud

I don't know if these ratings are incredibly accurate or not - but he is still a good card nonetheless and that's what matters in game. The ratings are what they are and his are nice. 99 defensive overall in the game, great rebounding, athleticism, inside scoring and the best passing among centers.

wtf why is he only going 4 120k?

So overrated. Shouldn't even be a Diamond to be honest. At best an Amethyst especially when Kareem is up with Bill and he is better.

    Coming this Friday!

Sheesh... the amount of people who pulled this card... wow

There throwing him out like he's an amethyst (which he should be btw)

    Nah, totally deserved diamond

    Show 8 replies...

No, he should be Amethyst. Just as @philliesrule993 said,

"Someone please tell me how Wilt Chamberlain is only 91 and Bill Russell is 96 & 97?"

Total BS. Wilt and Russell should at least be the same OVR.

You don't understand fam. Bill deserves what he got, but the best Wilt deserves more plain and simple

That wilt chamberlain is way past his prime and bill russell is one of the greatest of all times, totally deserved diamond

bruh gtfo Wilt was always a better player than Russell

    11 rings don't lie tho

Wilt does have a 97 overall MVP card.

But Bill go two 97s. I mean just look at this list!

Yeah that's true. I never watched these guys play so I obviously can't just say whether or not they deserve such cards - but at least both have a 97 card for the people who prefer Wilt and the people that refer Bill.

    including his big toe

Is he worth buying? I could sell curry, isiah, AD, and Hakeem but idk if I should

Seeing as cheap as 125 k badged up. Pick him up if up get chance. Best defense at center PERIOD

Definitely don't do that! It's not worth it

Thanks isiah has been frustrating me so I thought it would be a good idea possibly so I can have him run pf with diamond Kareem at center but after reading all these comments it's not worth it

    Show 1 reply...

If you don't like Isiah then sell him and a replacement. Maybe Dynamic Westbrook or Wall. Or even All-Star Chris Paul

bill just got rings tossed around the house

He be patting down old coats and finding them

Most underrated Diamond in the game. This guy gets every rebound

    You got em?

Less than 200k now, worth the price!

    anybody have him?

He's amazing on both ends, but his shooting holds him back a bit. He's good in the VERY low post and is amazing at getting by defenders and dunking it. The majority of my points with him are dunks. The defense and rebounding parts are obvious, he's also very athletic for a center. All around amazing.

i got him yesterday for 200k he's like 180 now i should've waited a couple days but either way he's worth the price

I kinda want to cop him should I sell my historic hakeem for him?

    Show 2 replies...

If you're looking for defense then yes. I got him to block shots grab boards and protect the paint. He's the best defensive C in the game. If you love offensive centers then don't do it. He's still great offensively but you can't really force things with him

Ok I thinking to stick with Hakeem thanks for the advice though!

So i got this beast for 180k semi badged only cause he is a Historic Diamond not a TBT or Moments? Ok thnx for the deal :)

Review: Take threes with him, he drains

Tbh i love this card but he doesnt deserve to be higher than players like WIlt and Kareem. They were overall better players IMO than Bill but Bill was just on a better team and has won 11 championships in 13 years which is incredible if there was only one good player on the team.

Such a good low budget diamond. Ive seen many for 145,000 last night

Bill Russel is the goat end of story.

    I remember this

    is bill russsel beast

6-0 in seed 1 of rttp players, any suggestions for the final stretch

    only 67 lateral quickness???

60k on ps4 now wtf>???? Does this card suck?

I got him for 53k and with all gold badges and i love him

Why does he have a better moving 3 or than the other one? Both trash, does it matter

    him or amethyst KAT?

Lmaoooo. He's overrated. You're just a ring counter. Sam Jones might as well be the second greatest player of all time

Rings and awards don't mean everything, but 11 championships, 5 MVPs, and 12 all star appearances certainly don't count for nothing. From Wikipedia:

"Russell is one of the most successful and decorated athletes in North American sports history. His awards and achievements include 11 NBA championships as a player with the Boston Celtics in 13 seasons (including two NBA championships as player/head coach), and he is credited with having raised defensive play in the NBA to a new level.[70] By winning the 1956 NCAA Championship with USF and the 1957 NBA title with the Celtics, Russell became the first of only four players in basketball history to win an NCAA championship and an NBA Championship back-to-back (the others being Henry Bibby, Magic Johnson, and Billy Thompson). He also won two state championships in high school. In the interim, Russell collected an Olympic gold medal in 1956. His stint as coach of the Celtics was also of historical significance, as he became the first black head coach in major U.S. professional sports when he succeeded Red Auerbach.[71]

In his first NBA full season (1957–58), Russell became the first player in NBA history to average more than 20 rebounds per game for an entire season, a feat he accomplished 10 times in his 13 seasons. Russell's 51 rebounds in a single game is the second-highest performance ever, only trailing Chamberlain's all-time record of 55. He still holds the NBA record for rebounds in one half with 32 (vs. Philadelphia, on November 16, 1957). Career-wise in rebounds, Russell ranks second only to Wilt Chamberlain in regular season total (21,620) and average per game (22.5), and he led the NBA in average rebounds per game four times. Russell is the all-time playoff leader in total (4,104) and average (24.9) rebounds per game, he grabbed 40 rebounds in three separate playoff games (twice in the NBA Finals), and he never failed to average at least 20 rebounds per game in any of his 13 post-season campaigns. Russell also had seven regular season games with 40 or more rebounds, the NBA Finals record for highest rebound per game average (29.5 rpg, 1959) and by a rookie (22.9 rpg, 1957). In addition, Russell holds the NBA Finals single-game record for most rebounds (40, March 29, 1960, vs. St. Louis, and April 18, 1962, vs. Los Angeles), most rebounds in a quarter (19, April 18, 1962 vs. Los Angeles), and most consecutive games with 20 or more rebounds (15 from April 9, 1960 – April 16, 1963).[72] He also had 51 in one game, 49 in two others, and twelve straight seasons of 1,000 or more rebounds.[1] Russell was known as one of the most clutch players in the NBA. He played in 11 deciding games (10 times in Game 7s, once in a Game 5), and ended with a flawless 11–0 record. In these eleven games, Russell averaged 18 points and 29.45 rebounds.[22]

On the hardwood, he was considered the consummate defensive center, noted for his unmatched defensive intensity, his stellar basketball IQ and his sheer will to win.[22] Russell excelled at playing man-to-man defense, blocking shots, and grabbing defensive and offensive rebounds.[1] He also could score with putbacks and made mid-air outlet passes to point guard Bob Cousy for easy fast break points.[1] He also was known as a fine passer and pick-setter, featured a decent left-handed hook shot and finished strong on alley oops.[22] However, on offense, Russell's output was limited. His NBA career personal averages show him to be an average scorer (15.1 points career average), a poor free throw shooter (56.1%), and average overall shooter from the field (44%, not exceptional for a center). In his 13 years, he averaged a relatively low 13.4 field goals attempted (normally, top scorers average 20 and more), illustrating that he was never the focal point of the Celtics offense, instead focusing on his tremendous defense.[26]

In his career, Russell won five regular season MVP awards (1959, 1961–63, 1965)—tied with Michael Jordan for second all-time behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's six awards. He was selected three times to the All-NBA First Teams (1959, 1963, 1965) and eight Second Teams (1958, 1960–62, 1964, 1966–68), and was a twelve-time NBA All-Star (1958–1969). Russell was elected to one NBA All-Defensive First Team. This took place during his last season (1969), and was the first season the NBA All-Defensive Teams were selected. In 1970, The Sporting News named Russell the "Athlete of the Decade". Russell is universally seen as one of the best NBA players ever,[1] and was declared "Greatest Player in the History of the NBA" by the Professional Basketball Writers Association of America in 1980.[1] For his achievements, Russell was named "Sportsman of the Year" by Sports Illustrated in 1968. He also made all three NBA Anniversary Teams: the NBA 25th Anniversary All-Time Team (1970), the NBA 35th Anniversary All-Time Team (1980) and the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team (1996). Russell ranked #18 on ESPN's 50 Greatest Athletes of the 20th Century in 1999. In 2009, SLAM Magazine named Russell the #3 player of all time behind Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.[73] Former NBA player and head coach, Don Nelson, described Bill Russell in a quote that says, "There are two types of superstars. One makes himself look good at the expense of the other guys on the floor. But there's another type who makes the players around him look better than they are, and that's the type Russell was."[74]

On Saturday, February 14, 2009, during the 2009 NBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix, NBA Commissioner David Stern announced that the NBA Finals MVP Award would be named after Bill Russell.[4] Russell was named as a 2010 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.[75]"

Now that's quite a legacy. Now tell me, did Sam Jones do all of that?

    Show 1 reply...

I agree. Obviously he didn't get all those rings by being bad, his numbers will still fantastic and 11 championships out of his 13 seasons isn't something that happens to every player.

You should be arrested. Because that joke made me die of laughter!

He's a 97 overall PF if anyone doesn't care about shooting

Do you guys think his price will go up or keep falling? I just packed him on Xbox and he seems super low for a player this good.

yeah i sold him for 112k last night, and I ended up buying steph and george mikan, who I actually think is better for the price. Thanks!

keep falling. I can see him being around 80-90k, maybe even less. Everyone's prices are falling sell him now

I just sold him for 130k fully badged up on xbox.

Tooooo short maybe a pf would suffice
