The 85 potential lmfao
He was one of the best ever college players, probably deserved
Show 16 replies...Not deserved cause he sucked in the NBA
Yea, that's why he was an all star. Good reasoning.
In terms of the hype he had, fuck yeah you could almost consider him a bust lmao. Plus, we already know how pointless all star selection is at this point.
You clearly have no idea what you're on about. For a player to be a bust there must be a better player picked after him, otherwise it's just a bad draft. Please do tell which player picked after him was significantly, if at all, better than him. The guy averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds over his 12 year career, I think that constitutes a pretty good career in the NBA.
Bust is arguable, he certainly didn't live up to potential and hype
He lived up to his potential. He was hyped but if you took a look from a realistic perspective he didn't have the tools to be an NBA star. He was a good serviceable player though. As far as being a bust goes, he's not a bust any more than Oladipo for instance, yes, he's not a star but there aren't really any better players to be picked after him. Nobody Picked Laettner over Shaq or Mourning, that would be a criminal mistake, but it was obvious even back then. And the guys picked after him weren't really better than him, if anything it was the other way around.
Listen ritards, I know he had a decent NBA career. But I hate his guts so in my mind he's trash.
tf is a ritard

Dantley was on a far worse team for the last 2 and he was far more efficient. Why do we have to talk about this anyway? I haven`t talked about this stuff for months, cant you just welcome me back? :(
So being a bit more efficient outweighs all of that? Lol
Why would you say offensively Dantlet>'96 MJ if you weren't prepared to actually back it up.
Because i`m not prepared to actually back it up... I just got back on here after months away and was hoping to get a warm welcoming, its 10 PM and literally the last day of my school`s term tomorrow, plus I haven`t debated this stuff for 3 odd months, and the last 3 months have been possibly the most difficult (not necessarily bad, but difficult) of my life. So TBH I cant be asked... But if you really care that much I cant remember the numbers specifically but Dantley was way more efficient, plus shortened 3 point line, special treatment blah blah blah. But I don`t really care right now TBH :P
This guy was picked just ahead of shaq for the dream team, shaq got so unlucky lol
People called Thon Maker a project, but there ain't no project like a 40 overall with an 85 potential
And Laettner isn't 40 years old
Show 4 replies...
Frickin racist! just because he is foreign doesn't mean he 50.
Its such a stereotypical thing that should stop!
duke is just a factory for white guys who dominate college but don't do shit in the NBA
Thats racist
Show 3 replies...Somehow rated higher than Clyde Drexler, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, Magic Johnson, and Patrick Ewing...
The REWARD card has a lower overall than some of the collection cards. Smh 2k
When u think about it, its really kinda sad that he didn't have a better NBA career, coming off of one of the greatest college careers anyone has ever seen.
Ikr Everyone Hates Him. Seriously -18 That's Just Disappointing
Show 3 replies...i actually just finished watching the documentary on that Duke team - its a great documentary u should watch it - but he was legendary. I wish he had a better NBA career to cap that all off, it sucks that he was never able to fulfill that.
Because You First Come Into A Good College And Make The NBA But now He's The Most Hated
dad
Look the potential stat shows overall they will be
They wouldn't make jordan a 99 which is his potential. These usa players are for a set to get 99 barkley. If they made jordan a 99 then there would be no point
*Comment before they update ratings from 40 overall* The Potential will be their overall
Nah they gonna keep it at 40 overall because they don't need to change his rating because his rating is already perfect
Show 1 reply...I mean he is one of the greatest college players of all time. Who was better then Shaq at LSU
I'm calling like project packs idk what they'd be called but with like people with huge expectations out of college as rookies. Be prepared for like a diamond young LeBron and Jordan.
Who is this and I'm even a t wolves fan
Not that many people know how good Laettner was in college definitely one of the greatest college players ever
WHICH DUMBASS IN 2K THOUGHT CHRISTAIN LAETTENER DESERVED A 95 THREE???????????????
better than magic, ok
Who cares ? There are historic collections that are rated higher than magic
Show 2 replies...this magic was past his prime, the players that are historic collections at least deserve to be close to the same rating as magic but this pile of crap player barely deserves his sapphire card. there will eventually be a pink diamond magic and then ill be good. and don't even get me started if they make bird lower than Laettner!
why do people hate him lol
please tell me
He was a bust and they took him over Shaq in college.
Show 2 replies...Well... He isn't a bust compared to Darko Milicic. Laettner was part of the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1993 and made it in the NBA All-Star 1997. Plus, the man had decent stats in his whole entire career, averaging 12.8 PPG and 6.7 RPG, which is okay. Although, he was deserving because he got Duke its first 2 championships. I will say though, Shaq Diesel is 100x better than Laettner, you can clearly tell by its stats. I don't like that they upgraded him into a diamond, but I'll still use him because 95 3PT as a PF
Should of picked Shaq as their college player instead of Laettner.
[Deleted]
Show 5 replies...Bro, check your stats. Shaq averaged more rebounds, points and blocks and ended up getting Number 1 pick. As well as this he was more efficient when averaging 20+ points. America just fucked up.
None of that matters. Shaq wasnt on the Dream Team so he cant be the reward
Yeah Ik, I'm saying he should have been picked. Imagine how OP the dream team would have been then.
Shaq wasnt in college, he was in his rookie season, so they picked Drob, barkley, ewing, and malone over him.
-37 down votes for this card. does the community really hate Laettner that much lol
Well, hi there bust of the century
He wasn't a bust
Show 3 replies...sort of
No. he was all rookie team and made an all star team.
He had 10 seasons where he averaged more than 12 points a game and 6 rebounds and in his first 4 years in Minn he averaged 17ppg and 8rpg
He was drafted 3rd behind Shaq and Alonzo Mourning which brings down his value when you look at him now. Also, he was one of 5 players in his draft class to make an all star game.
You label him a bust because he was on the Dream Team with the greats and didn't play..
Is also would like to point out, on occasion the best player in college gets pickled onto team usa. Laettner was that player. Laettner also managed to win an NCAA championship . Two of em. Back to back. Shaq won none, and nor did Zo
Rarest card in the game cause nobody is dumb enough to lock in the set
Except me
;)
Good card bad player
You try leading a team to the NCAA title twice, get picked top 3 in the draft, make the all-rookie team and then the all-star game in the NBA
Show 2 replies...Hey, aren't you a bust?
Because being an All-Star and averaging 12 points and 7 rebounds as an undersized player in the 90s is a bust...
Show 1 reply...So, his collection is either Role Players, Sixth man, or the true collection, Bench Warmers, and this card better be not higher than a Ruby...
Could've had Thomas
or shaq!?!
Could've had ShaqDiesel
That wouldn't of worked out very well
Everyone didn't want to play with him, and it was him or Jordan soooo no
How did I get downvotes magic and bird wrote a book that mentioned how nobody wanted to play with him
Good book
[Deleted]
Well Jordan literally said that if Isiah was on the team he wasn't going to play, and a few other players didn't like Isiah either.
Yeah Isiah talks about it on TNT. He said if the best player ever says he dosent wanna play with him, that fine. But anybody else can gtfo
A few people said they wouldn't because of how dirty he and his team were, and Jordan flat out said he wouldn't play if isiah was on the team. That's what I heard
i agree
so fucking true
He would have been so much better if he was in college.
He's previous rating (http://2kmtcentral.com/17/players/20054i1/christian-laettner) was true. This is not an accurate rating AT ALL.
Beat me to it
Ladies and gentleman, Do not be surprised if this card isnt updated
It already is updated
hehe xdxdxd
sorry i got hacked^^
hehe
xd
stfu
Well, it is
They could've chosen Shaq!
No, Laettner was much more dominant in college. Like tim duncan
If Laettner was better in college then why did Shaq go #1
Cause when you draft people you base it off what they are gonna do in the future. Team USA didn't need a raw athletic center they wanted someone that was going to the smart play and hit open shots which is what laetner did and was a champion cause of it. The best college players don't always become the best NBA players.
Haha true (Jimmer)
@conor true
Just saying they could have chosen Shaq, who did better in the future...
Yes, but how could they know... Laettner was an average starting PF in the NBA while shaq was an MVP candidate
did you just say laettner was more dominant in college?
He was dominant, IN COLLEGE. Shaq was dominant in the NBA
Laetnerr was put in team usa before either of them had played a minute of NBA
Idc he's trash
But when they made the team they didnt know he was going to be trash. They chose the best player in college and he was the best player on the best team
Grant hill>laettner but I guess not in college
Umm, lamenter averaged 22, hill 15, plus more boards for laetnerr
Yeah ik I said laettner in college
ok
In college hell tf nah fuck wrong witchu
serious man
That's what I said...
"I guess not in college" Nigga laettner was way ahead. The fact youd even consider whether Laettner was better in college is some total fag shit bih
I didn't consider it lmao you took "I guess" way too damn seriously. Fuck laettner tho
Tbh the fact hes so hatable makes him fuck witable
They should've just chosen Webber tbh
Laettner was a fucking legend in college so it makes sense they didnt choose Webber. He just couldnt adjust nearly as fast in the NBA like Webber could
It really didn't matter because regardless of which college player they chose, he was gonna ride the bench. Shaq especially considering the team was loaded at the Center position and he couldn't shoot free throws.
Why was this downvoted. Your just spitting facts to these guys who know nothing about basketball
I just hate Christian Laettner
He should be a 25 cuz.....IDK FUCK HIM Thats why
Fax
W
A little late tbh
Ik I didn't even know Laettner had a card tbh
lol
how tf did he even make it on the team?? it's not like they had to fucking choose him lol
they thought he was the best college player thats how. and he was chosen no. 3 i think
eh but still...
because there's always a rookie on it that plays like no minutes
It was right after "the shot" against my Kentucky Wildcats that sent Duke to the Final Four who would eventually win it all. #IstillhateLaettner
He made the team since he had enough minutes already logged with USA Basketball
boyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
what?
Laettner isn't alone, Harrison Barnes got the same feedback.
Basically the exact same situation tbh
They wanted one player to represent the non-profi-leagues as it was usual at olympics till 1992. As NCAA Player of the Year, Laettner was the best player available. He was more than dominant (in college)...
so it was kinda like dame dolla and ad in their early years in a wayy?
Somehow. To my knowledge they did it again in 2004 (Okafor) & 2012 (AD). Can't remember Lillard there. I feel like they should take 3 college players to every tournament, especially the Olympics. NCAA is good enough and what young players learn at camp during the summer is huge...
I'm pretty sure that Lillard was on Team USA with AD in 2012, correct me if I'm wrong. Yeah, they should run a program where the top 3 prospects have the opportunity to train with all of the NBA's USA rookie competition team. That way, it'd kinda be like a development process earlier on which would be helpful...
Yeah, you're wrong, AD was the only college player on 2012 roster.
at least his potential is an 85
85 is shit compared to the others tho tbh
yeah. It stands out amongst all of the 25's
when ur best stat is something u have none of, that's just sad af
very true
There is just one glimmer of hope
