Looking at his trophy case like
"And Im not the GOAT"
You realize there were 8 teams in the league when he won all those titles, right?
Show 2 replies...You realize he has had more competition than we have today
Not to pick a fight but not necessarily, back then there weren't so many people trying to get in the NBA and people weren't coming from overseas either. Now there are far more people training to go to the NBA since they were little with better training methods and equipment then back then. Also, Bill Russell got first round byes a lot of the time when today many teams still have to tire themselves out playing the first round. But maybe it was tougher back then as guys like Wilt and Kareem played. Honestly, I am not really sure just making an educated guess. Check out Bleacher Report's article on it if you want, that's where I got my information from.
I didn't want a 3 pt shooting but that mid range kinda bothers me considering how generous 2K was with attributes in the last few months
also: 72 steal rating is ridicolously low since we are talking about the greatest defensive big man - if not the greatest defender in general - of all time
I mean...the Shaq from this very collection has 88, wtf bro
to be honest, I respect BILL RUSSELL the PLAYER perfectly, but this card man:
- can't dribble/control the ball
- too short
- can't stretch
So it's just gonna be a defensive power forward. Just like a rodman you can get for 30k
If you can get this for 30k that would be amazing...
just like the rodman: Which you can get for 30k
seriously
I agree entirely, Bill Russell, is tied for my favorite player in NBA history, with Larry Bird, and I would pick Rodman over him. Rodman has way better offensive stats, with still having the D.
right. and if you watch clips of russell like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWelUNrJUMM you clearly see that his ball control and speed with ball should each be at least 40 higher, which would have been accurate. as of now with his poor ball control and speed with ball driving with him isn't even an option.
My mans vert the same as t mac's?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2AlFrOj5Mc
In the playoffs Bill Russell averaged:
16.2 points 24.9 rebs 4.7 asts 43% fg% 60% ft% 45.4. Mins per game
11 championships
Possibly the best playoff performer of all time.
43% for a Center is not good lol
if you adjust his minuets to average minuets and then to todays pace it;s not that impressive and he wouldn't win finals MVP on a contending team today
Bill Russell won Game 7 of the finals on the road as a player-coach against a Lakers team with Wilt, Jerry West, and Elgin Baylor. He couldn't not win.
Russell's playoff series records against some greats:
Jerry West: 6-0
Elgin Baylor: 6-0
Wilt: 7-1
Oscar Robertson: 4-0
Bob Petit: 3-1
His best teammate was Bob Cousy from 57-63 and John Havlicek from 64-69. They're greats, but his second best teammate at any given pont was either Bill Sharman, Tom Heinson or Sam Jones. They're good, but you wouldn't expect those teams to go 5-0 against the Jerry West / Elgin Baylor Lakers unless Russell was truly as great as they say he was.
when people think ur not better than wilt even though every time oyu played him you destroyed him
Wilt would usually win the 1v1 battle, but the Celtics would most likely win the game.
nah, wilt dropped about 20ppg against bill russell, but thats a bad day for wilt, because he scored 50 ppg

Wilt averaged 30 PPG against Russell, double what Russell averaged against him, but Russell was 57-37 against Wilt.
93 speed, but 54 speed with ball? His highlights would disagree.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2AlFrOj5Mc
how did they decide to give him a 29 open 3 did he shoot a shot from that deep and make it from what i now bill did all of his scoring inside and was a defensive beast im confused

16 HOF badges?? Gonna be overlooked bc of his height too, can't wait until he becomes cheap
This man avreged 18ppg on 45% shooting in his best year. 2k: Give him 96 inside scoring and HOF relentless.
One of the most overrated players ever. Terrific defender and rebounder, but absolutely awful on offense
I'm going to assume you know nothing about Bill Russell. Probably the greatest passing centre of all time after Bill Walton. He would grab the rebound and throw it the length of the court like Kevin Love today but 3-4 times a q. He averaged 4.3 assists a game during his career which is great for a centre but the thing to remember is they judged assists much differently then. If the recipient dribbled after he caught the pass if was no longer an assist, so he would've averaged 7-8. He also was the key to Boston's fast break offence which was unstoppable and they'd get out and run every possession. Russell would grab the rebound/block and sprint up the court (he was one of the fastest players in the league) and find his teammates or dunk.
He could dunk over anybody, he did a free throw line layup where he hurdled his defender. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2AlFrOj5Mc Here's another video of him dunking over people https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVR7rU6CkmI&t=3s His PPG is also lower because in Red Auerbach's offence everybody had a very specific role. Russell's job was to get it to Jones, Havlicek and Heinsohn, the scorers. He could've averaged well over 20 and he did score a lot in big games. Also the amount of extra possessions he created on the glass would be ridiculous.
Finally because nobody else had to worry about defence/rebounding his teammates could focus on offence which changed the career for many players. Don Nelson was almost out of the league then he came to the Celtics and Bill told him only worry about offence. He had a 8 point increase in points the next season and became a key part of 5 championship and became a hall of famer
When you have 11 rings but you are not even at the top 15 best players of NBA history
MOST OVERRATED PLAYER EVER
I can bet you've never seen a basketball game in your life
He was a great defender and great rebounder. Possibly the best defender of all time. But when you're a center and average 15 points in that era on 44% shooting, but are still considered by some as the best center of all time, you're overrated
Show 2 replies...he could be a bit overrated, but lets not forget that he was one of the first legends in basketball history, and surely isn't the most overrated of all-time.
Yeah I may have overstated that. I just don't think hes anywhere near the best center of all time
eerghg, who is this nigga
greatest defender ever, IMO
he would definitely be in my top 3
Eh not the greates but either number 2 or 3
who would you put 1?
Dennis Rodman obviously
*player
not necesarily. Surely he put up great stats but those numbers were inflated in a smaller league with a lot less talent. Wilt cooked him every time they met. You can't really tell with these '60s players because of blocks. imo Rodman is the GOAT defender
for me rodman is goat rebounder
Rodman is the best rebounder and defender of all time hands down imo
rebounder yes but defender?
it is like saying Colgate toothpaste is the best paste and glue of all time
no just no
your the type of person to say bill Russell is a top 5 player all time aren't you
no i have a personal top 5 that is based off of my observation and atmosphere of the nba at the time, Jordan is considered the greatest of all time because he played with slow ass crackas and people called Bill one of the goats because he played with AVERAGE 6'2 and 6'3 guys that could jump higher then a snail with stage 4 autism, it's all about the time period and the players that are in it.
how tf can u make an opinion on someone u never saw play??
you watch highlights of him playing, dude.
u look at the numbers and talk to people who saw him play
still doesnt mean u can base an assumption off it, u gonna believe everything stephen a smith, i mean future generations will probably think scalabrine is the goat
plus him and wilt were only real big guys in the league, not hard to defend midgets
Todays heights are calculated with shoes on, bro.
Read any NBA book and somewhere it's gonna talk about how great of a defender Bill Russell was
u can say hes a good defender, but u cant say someone is the greatest if u havnt seen them play
Not talking about people like Stephen A, I'm talking about people that actually bought tickets to those games and watched him play.
naww

Don't you people get simple math.. Big Motha Fuckin Black Guy > Small Cracka Fackas... not that hard to see
93 speed?!!!!!!!!!!! It's over at this point
this is some shit lol hes faster than the Kawhi in this set
Holy elephant dick in a kitties ass covered in crack ho shit this cards defense is amazing
[Deleted]
this player is a glitch, his block animation makes his blocks blocks/rebounds
He's basically the exact opposite of James Harden
This guy has the same exact 99 overall stats on defense and rebounding as how much rings he had in his NBA career
16 hof badges
Exactly
now he has a mid range shot lol
99 Rebound 99 Offensive rebound 99 Defensive rebound its over
HE Is slithery
still useless, curry would cross his ass up
then bill would send that layup into the second row
no curry splash on him, wet like pool
Then he'd send the jumpshot into the second row.
or dry like an empty one
Or Bill would smack that weak shot right into Curry's face just to be extra savage
[Deleted]
Bill would swat that shit out of the damn arena
Don't be that guy
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTyaOqimvuoPn2XJfQMUZ8jBWOtuO2UpLiOyhDLWj1qfEbaiXMN0A
not wrong
i would hope a 6'3 point guard could cook a 6'10 center....
That's 6'3" PG could be cooked by a 6'8"-6'10" PF so I think Bill could fuck him up.
