I'm not the only person who's been saying this. It's not only Grizzlies fans who are saying this. The refs handed the Spurs that game on a silver platter. Kawhi attempted more free throws than the entire Grizzlies team, and trust me, he did not take that much contact going to the rim. The Spurs took 34 free throws to the Grizzlies' 15, and if anything the Spurs were playing even more physical defense. But the worst thing was the TIMING. The Grizzlies went on an absolute tear in the 3rd quarter, cutting a 26 point lead down to 4 with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. But then the refs took absolute control of the game. Right when the Grizzlies were about to seize control of the game, the refs intervened and began to call every single bit of contact against the Grizzlies. There was one possession where Kawhi literally just rammed Vince Carter with his elbow for the entire possession, elbowed him down under the basket, and then Vince got called for the foul when he made a clean strip. Mike Conley nearly snapped on the refs several times, and if you know anything at all about Mike Conley, you'll know that he is generally one of the calmest people you'll ever see. This game was complete and utter bullshit
As a die hard spurs fan I honestly have to agree with u. I remember watching it thinking "damn we're getting every call." The NBA is a business and it wants money like every other business. I hate to say it but the Spurs are a much more well-known team than the Grizzlies and if the spurs advance more people will want to watch and buy tickets to go to the games. This really hit me last year during the Finals. Okay game 7 i get it the Warriors blew it definitely but game 6 was utter bullshit. Curry fouled out but like 4 of the 6 calls he didn't even touch anybody. They should've won that game but the NBA realized that if game 7 occurred they could sell tickets for insane prices. The shittiest seats were prolly $150-$200 a seat at least. It sucks and if the NBA continues in this direction I might just give up and watch college instead.
Show 4 replies...I'm also a Spurs fan and that game was dictated by the refs in their direction. Nothing but respect to the Grizzlies and their effort. They definitely have a right to bitch on this one. That being said, Kawhi is still a beast.
The NBA may want the Spurs in the finals but I very highly doubt that the NBA would go to the officials and collude with them for making the Spurs win. Not to say the game wasn't officiated badly or the referees in that game couldn't have had some alternative motive.
And if you really want to go back to college. . ., you won't last long before you realize that NBA officiating is light years ahead of college referees.
If there is one thing you should give the NBA credit for its investing in their refs more than other sports. An NBA Referee will make anywhere from 150-550K a year, making it a full paying and well paying job. They evaluate their referees and the referees pay financially for performing well or bad. They are also payed much more than their counterpart college referees, therefore as you could guess most of the best referees go to the NBA.
Bucks won at Toronto, while the Raptors had 33 free throws and the Milwaukee team had 15. FTs dont mean shit, imo.
Show 2 replies...not really FTs are really important the reason Toronto lost in because Lowry was 2-11 with 4 points and the only two people that did anything were Ibaka and Derozan, if they wouldve had any more help from valanciunas it would have been ectremely close so the free throws actually kept them in it until the Bucks went on their end of 3rd into 4th run
It was the timing. When the refs stopped dictating the game in the 3rd quarter, the Grizzlies rampaged back from a 26 point deficit to cut it to 4 with 10 minutes left. Then the refs took the game over again, and the Spurs immediately ballooned the lead back up to double digits. You had to watch the game to truly understand the insanity of it
what about game one? That was just an old fashioned ass whooping
Show 1 reply...Very very much disagree they did not get it handed to them. Do I agree they didn't get a lot of calls? YES. But the Spurs still did outplay them. So yeah whatever you think. Yes the Grizz should've got more calls. But a lot of Kawhi's shots were actually fair called.
Show 1 reply...
I have little doubt that the Grizzlies would've won if the refs weren't shit. They had just cut a 26 point deficit to 4 and had all the momentum in the world when the bullshit started. If the refs called both sides fairly the Grizzlies would've continued on that rampage, who knows how far that run would've gone. They were dominating until the refs took things into their own hands.
Also, it wasn't a few bad calls, it was an entire game of bad calls or bad no-calls
you got blow out doesnt matter tbh
Show 19 replies...Actually, the Grizzlies were down 4 and had all the momentum with 10 minutes left, then the refs literally gave everything to the Spurs for the rest of the game and they built the lead back up to double digits. When the refs actually called the game fairly in the 3rd quarter, the Grizzlies went on a run of out scoring the Spurs by 22. So don't say shit unless you actually watched the game
i watched the gruzzlies get blown out...
If you watched game 2 and say the Grizzlies got blown out you know nothing about basketball tbh
96-82? stop complaining and blaming everything on the refs. I hate talkin to kids who never played basketball in their life. If YOU knew anything about basketball, you'd know there was always soemthing you could have done, even if the refs werent on your side and you lost by 16... thats your fault. Grizzlies have no slashers, so no they wont draw many fouls. Learn basketball.
Except I have every right to blame game 2 on the refs. You know what happened in game 3, a game where few fouls were called? The Grizzlies went to absolute town on the Spurs. Yeah, and I guess a 2 year starter for one of the best 5A teams in Georgia doesn't know shit about basketball ... FOH lmao. The thing is, the Grizzlies WERE doing something. They cut a 26 point deficit to 4 in more or less one quarter. Then, the refs started giving the Spurs EVERYTHING, and the lead ballooned back up. They weren't calling anything for the Grizzlies, even though the vast majority of the Grizzlies' shots came in the paint, and the Spurs were playing VERY physical defense.
I'm guessing you thought there was something the 2002 Kings could've done as well?
i was 4 in 2002 bro. not everyone on the internet is a 40 year old virgin. And im pretty sure they won cuz they were home... stop being a grizzlies fanboy. Spurs are gonna win the series 4-2 whether the refs are good or not.
I was 2 in 2002 lmao. I'm just interested in NBA history. The Grizzlies won because they came out and played fired up and this time the refs actually called the game evenly. Yeah Spurs are most likely gonna win but I wouldn't count the Grizzlies out completely. Again, it's a small chance, but it's a chance
Yeah theres a chance the celtics will win too dummy. Nice try. Maybe play some basketball before you can say anything. Get some intangibles, learn the game
Yeah, there actually is a chance the Celtics will win. What I'm saying is that you should never just let go because "oh that other team is gonna win the series anyways". Btw I've been playing basketball for 12 years and was a starter for a team that made the state quarterfinals in 5A. I probably know more about basketball than you do
5a? wtf is that gtfo youre probably a virgin with no badges bitch
5A is the second highest HS sports classification you retard. And lmao trust me I'm not a virgin if you're on the basketball team and you're a virgin there's either something seriously wrong with you or you're trying to be a virgin.
Funny how quickly you resulted to completely false insults
it means youre trash at basektball scrub. average 3 ppg 1 assist coming off the bench
I mean actually I averaged 10 PPG while serving as my team's best defender so...
Let's give credit to Kawhi for going 19/19 from the line. If he is a bad free throw shooter, the story wouldn't be the same
Show 1 reply...Spurs would still win the series even if the Grizzlies won so who cares
Show 2 replies...I care. I want my team to win as many games as possible, I want them to have a reason to play their hearts out like they do every night, I want to have a reason to cheer for them. Also, upsets happen (peep 2011 Grizzlies-Spurs series) and no matter the situation that kind of Biased and horrible officiating is absolutely unacceptable
Are you just mad that the Spurs won?
Show 7 replies...No. I'm mad that the refs won it for them
either way, the griz were not gonna win
Yea I loved FIzdales post game interview. Too bad he will get fined because NBA will go to any measure to protect there refs.
Yeah, they'll be like: "Fizdale was really mean to the refs, I mean, they did their best. He needs to pay for saying anything to the contrary of our refs officiating the game perfectly."
need some lineup help plzzz http://2kmtcentral.com/17/lineups/652978/new-updated-lineup
Was it just me or did anyone else think his nickname was "Klaw" not "Claw"?
Yeah it is the klaw because of his first name and he said in an interview that he didn't like "the claw"
Show 1 reply...no because I'm not a retard and know how to spell the word Claw
Show 1 reply...Salty Hoe I was right. It is misspelled because his name starts with a K. So, Mr. Knowitall, go home.
Mid range deadeye hof
Defensive stoppwr hof
Rip
56 block? james harden would disagree
so would russell westbrook, lebron james, kevin durant, dwyane wade, terrence ross, and carmelo anthony
Show 2 replies...LMAO it's basically a duplicate of the Amethyst...
The major upgrade isn't the stats, but all the new badging... HOF badges, personality badges, and way more overall slots. Plus better hot/cold zones.
He should win MVP, but the voters don't look at both sides of the ball, they only care about offense.
FUCK 2k
How does Patrick Beverley have higher defensive stats than him!
his 3pt should be atleast 90 plus open and 90 plus contested cuz according to 2k russell westrbrook is a better shooter than kawhi
his ball controll should be atleast 86 and post hook shoot be way higher.
85 steal is bull shit should 95 plus. 75 strength are you kidding me your telling me he is weaker than westbrook? he is 30pounds heavier for fucks sake should atleast be 84 strength
[Deleted]
Kawhi is killing it on the series!
i will be a great series on any team he plays, is a great two-way player
he defends icredebly good and he has a preety good offense
Airpaul24 ikr Kawhinot buy this card?
Show 1 reply...Why does 2K continue to think that this man can't handle the ball? He was putting people on blenders this seson
Don't confuse most statistically impressive with most valuable...
Kawhi for MVP
For those asking, the reason it is only a 94 OVR so when he has an insane game with can give him a 97+
Not a bad card don't get me wrong, just a little disappointing 3 ball and layup wise
Defensive Stopper HOF! Clamps... I need this BEAST CARD
Fun Fact: Other than the silver every single Harrison Barnes Mavs Card has a higher 3 than diamond Kawhi.
This card is awesome, but I think it could have been like a 95/96 overall with better Defensive stats after the huge games had!
98 open shot mid
98 contested shot mid
98 off dribble shot mid
this card will never miss a mid
This is just barely better than the amethyst. The only thing about this diamond that is significantly better is draw foul (+10), contested shot mid (+10) and his rebound stats which are actually quite a bit higher. Save your money and buy the amy if you want Kawhi.
2 HOF Bades
Show 1 reply...that is a good improvement but its not worth his price rn. when he drops to 40k or 50k that will be a worthy upgrade but rn about 80k higher price for like 100 attributes higher and 2 HOF badges
Yea 2k is fucked up man. Gold chase down artist = 56 block. What the hell 2k! Although he didn't get any vblocks this game, he still needs a higher block rating. He has blocked bare players, even all stars.
YO WHY THEY HATIN ON KAWHIS THREE POINTER!!?!?!! They took away 3 of his hotspots from the three point line! What the hell 2k!
I'm a Kawhi Leanord fan. I like to use all of his cards. But why is this diamond just like the amethyst. The only thing that is different is his mid-range and rebounding. His three ball and ball-control should be higher too. AND HIS DEFENSE. Plus why did they take away the three point hotspots away. He can shoot anywhere from three. When a ruby Patrick Beverly has better defense than DIAMOND KAWHI LEONARD, then 2k has a problem. A big problem,
No, A HUGE PROBLEM!!!!
Praise the lord a diamond Kawhi
Compared to his Amethyst card: http://2kmtcentral.com/17/players/compare/20536/20295
Hopefully the amethyst is cheaper now. The only real difference is that the diamond has GODLY midrange and better rebounding.
3 ball, steal, block and ball control should've been upgraded
Being a 94 he will get 2 upgrades before pink diamond
By best friend is a kawaii fanboy
He spent the whole day doing something dirty to this card
Midrange and defensive god...
98 mid, 96 shot contest
HOF midrange deadeye HOF defensive stopper
0 alley oop tendency
5 flashy pass tendency
Lmao that is san antonio basketball
So Kawhi gets a card but Kevin Love and Iman shumpert cant get one wtf 2k...
Literally nicknamed "The Claw" but has a 56 block...
http://2kmtcentral.com/17/lineups/654353/lineup-reviews
Can someone review this pls
y'all barely made this one better than the amethyst aside from HoF badges, even though he should have way better stats in some categories than some #BreakTheGameCards (looking at you Russ, you can have 90+ three, BUT HELL NO Kawhi ain't lower in that regard compared to you), the refs pulled a 2002 throwback on game 2 and i'm a spurs fan, they almost made conley snap, mother fcker is more chill that the arctic.
But that's okay, i'm still breaking the game with this very downgraded card for what it should be, and none of you bastards gonna stop me even if you give him 66 open 3.
After comparing with the amethyst, this card isn't much better. They really should boosted his 3 pointer, his athleticism and his playmaking. The diamond only has 102 total attributes better than the amythest.
need some lineup help plzzz http://2kmtcentral.com/17/lineups/652978/new-updated-lineup
All the shot creator just shot them selves
Kawhi gets a diamond for 37 points, but CJ McCollum doesn't even get his first ruby for 41 points???????? They both had playoff career highs, at least give McCollum his first ruby. Cmon 2k.
the face you make when someone steals your chicken nuggets
19/19 ft with 37 pts?? i dont think this is diamond worthy but still a he is a beast
fuck this card is trash alrady have him and he sux spurs suk
so many wrong ratings on this card
1.8 steals per game= 85 steal
38% from three= 85 three
only a 92 defensive rating, ONLY 1 higher than Andrew Wiggins? for a top 3 defender in the league?
He'll have a 97-98 overall card by the end of the playoffs, mark my words
holy fuck..playoff performers damn.. your right
DAMN
Marked
With yellow or green highlighter?
Seriously the midrange is sweet but at least 90-92 three point rating and everything on defense should be no lower than a 90
The reason they lower those stats is because even though its well deserved his card would be a beast a true all around player which is what 2k doesn't want + he would be better than Curry/Lebron which 2k definitely doesn't want
Kawhi cards always play better than his stats. his incredible wingspan makes him better on D and I think he even grabs more steals. his 88 post fade was a glitch on his amy and will be same on this card.
The post fade is glitchy because 2K registers it as "open shot mid" or "open shot close" depending where you are. So those ratings count too. Post fade is so underutilized!
I really, truly dont understand how the heck 2k decides these ratings. Next year they need to make the league cards waaaayyy better so we dont have to wait months to finally get what they should be. And come on, how is there not Laker's shaq, and a better Lebron.
tbh we need a Miami LeBron. I don't see the point of waiting until june when the game is starting to die and I only get a few months to use him
And a better kyrie, better curry, klay, draymond, and ya bron bron
91 ovr kyrie isnt good enough for you?
No its not
hes not even a 91 in play now
Paul george still has way better stats
Yes, they go this card all wrong
his defense is accurate though. His steal should be higher but when u look at the individual stats, they seem about right to me
u mean the best defender in the league
eh this year gobert and draymond have been better
i mean overall, i think rudy or draymond are obviously gonna be the DPOY, but kawhi is the best in the league overall
thats not true, draymond is the best overall defender in the league. gobert is the best rim protector and kawhi the best perimeter defender, but draymond is excellent at both and is not far behind either of them. in advanced stats he is actually ahead of kawhi defensively this year because kawhi is having to put more energy on the offensive end
yah but i still say kawhis the best overall just my opinion tho
56 block ? I think not
russell westbrook and james harden would disagree
why? He didn't block them in my recent memory...
are you sure?

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Y1O3pq0KyXQ/hqdefault.jpg
They really need to bring up his ball control
should have low 90s 3
low to mid 90s steal as well
and mid to high 90s defense
he is the best perimeter defender in the nba hands down 95+ defense for sure
Do you have to say that on the top comment....
But he has HOF defensive stopper
Well it was for that one game so it would not be per game.
Preach!
I think they are gonna wait to give him a glitch of a card when he wins DPOY
i mean there's a good chance he's not going to win
Who do you think wins?
either gobert or draymond
Ya ur right, Idk draymond but gobert was a beast this year
He is not going to win defensive player of the year draymond will and I'm not a bandwagon like you it's facts.
so you think kawhi is a good low post defender dumbass
If you were to watch a Spurs game, you'd see that Kawhi isn't bad in the post on defense. He's not superb, but he is not a liability. Should be like 70-75
what the fuck you mean? i didn't say anything about low post defense
you said kawhi has 92 defensive rating which equates to low post defense also
what Rollo said. Also his steal and block should be a lot higher
MVP!
Be realist, man, Kawhi isn't that popular (read: overrated) like Queen LeFlop James.
stfu your life is literally a meme
deserves it more than that flopping little pussy Harden, only person that should win it over Kahwi is Westbrook, and That is facts
Westbrook is literally a MyCareer player. That guy that everything in the offense runs through, turns the ball over ALL THE TIME, and takes reckless shots that sometimes go in. He has 400 more FG attempts more than anyone in the NBA, averages 5 turnovers per game, and chased triple-doubles all year. Nothing wrong with that, just doesn't seem like a MVP when Harden put up similar stats on 400 less shots, and his team WON GAMES
yeah I agree with that but I still think carrying that squad to where it is now, even if they don't get out of the first round, averaging a triple double, he is going to win it, but youre right Kahwi is an actual MVP not some Flopping piece of shit, and not a MyCareer player.
(I know he shot 19-19 from the FT line but 90% of those were just really bad calls where he didn't flop)
Obviously Westbrook shoots more, who else would be shooting the ball on OKC...? While Harden is surrounded by shooters. And yet, even with all of Russell's "reckless shots", these two have similar shooting percentages... And Harden also has more turnovers. His team won 8 more games (which btw is not even that big a difference) because he simply has a better team, or at least a team that's a good fit for his playing style, and a coach that suits him as well. Overall, Westbrook is where he is against all odds, while Harden benefits from a much better environment. And if winning really is all it comes down to, then you might as well just give the MVP to Kawhi.
Harden surrounded by "shooters?" I personally would take Oladipo, Adams, and Kanter as my teammates over Gordon, Nene, and Capela. Beverly is a nice defensive presence. Rockets do have a deeper bench, but the starting lineups without Harden/Westbrook? I'll take the thunder then. I do think Westbrook will win MVP, especially since the voting is done BEFORE the playoffs start, but if I had a vote, I'd give it to Kawhi, then Harden, then Westbrook.
Yeah, shooters, you know, Gordon, Anderson, Lou Williams, Ariza, guys with range, who can make some (open) shots... Westbrook pretty much only has Oladipo. This is the first time I see someone say they'd take OKC without Westbrook over the Rockets without Harden. You're full of shit. But yeah, Westbrook's probably won it, deservedly so all things considered.
You rather have an injury prone spot-up shooter (Gordon), a bigman who is EXTREMELY streaky and cannot rebound or defend (Anderson), an average guard who cant play defense (Lou Will), a guard who is an amazing defender, but will get very trigger happy with shots (Beverly), and a solid spot up shooter that can defend (Ariza) than an athletic freak who is a average shooter, the worst used player in the NBA (Oladipo), a very good defender that can spot up and shoot (Roberson), the most underrated bigman in the NBA (Adams), a very solid player who can get you some quick offense (Kanter), a sharpshooting bigman that is pretty consistent, but struggles rebounding (Sabonis).
Bottom line is Harden makes his TEAMMATES better, but Westbrook has his teammates make HIMSELF better. The offense for the Rockets runs through Harden and his ability to create plays for himself and others. The Thunder offense is the 4 year old who has 2k and plays on a difficulty higher than rookie with his MyCareer player. Westbrook had a 50 point triple double last night, which is AMAZING. Except for the fact that he set a NBA record with the most missed shots in a single quarter (14 in the 4th). When I said he took reckless shots, that is exactly what I mean. He has the best stats and PER because he gets the ball EVRY possession. Russell got to take 400 more shots than the 2nd place person took. On top of taking 400 more shots than anybody else, he only had 22 more FG makes than 2nd place. Don't forget that Westbrook's fg % was only 1.4% better than Curry's 3pt %. For the record, they are BOTH great players and do carry their team. Both teams would be competing with each other for the lottery without their MVP candidates.
This is what happens when your a college student and actually care about something your writing about lol.
Fair enough, but here are my questions to you: why were the Rockets trash last season? What happened over the summer? Why did Harden not average 11 assists then?
The Rockets pretty much gave up big men for shooters. They brought in Mike D'Antoni. Their current system is what allows Harden to thrive. If he really is the type to make his teammates better, why couldn't he make it work with Dwight, arguably one of the better centers in the league? Is this current team not built for the beard?
While Westbrook has HAD to put the team on his back and carry hard, and he has done so successfully. Who the hell din OKC bring in to replace Durant and Ibaka? Here's the most important aspect - Rockets just transformed to be a better fit for Harden, while OKC just got A LOT WORSE. And yet Westbrook kept them up there.
If you compare this year's Westbrook to last year's, the only differences are that he gets 2-3 more rebounds a game, and shoots a lot more (which makes sense considering OKC lost the best scorer in the league this summer). While Harden gets a lot more ASSISTS than last season. If anything, this should tell you that Harden is the one whose teammates make him better. Westbrook just adapts and does what he has to do.
Westbrook has the best PER in the NBA by a longshot. He has over 30, which is 3 more than anyone else.
Westbrook's overrated
