Exactly what I was thinking, but on the other hand Dirk had the greatest playoff run ever

Yeah Dirk's 2011 playoff run is legendary. No one except Mavericks fans expected the Mavs to win it all that year. Steph has had great playoff runs, but all 3 of his championships (2015, 2017, 2018) all contain caveats. The Warriors had a legitimate chance to lose to the Cavaliers with Kyrie and Love, and in both 2017 and 2018, the Warriors were practically unbeatable so their championships felt less special.

Main argument here is Steph’s gravity on the offensive end of the floor, no player has the ability to shift entire defensive schemes as he does. It’s not only proven analytically but the footage backs it up

That is absolutely true. The defensive attention Steph garners on the floor is downright ridiculous and he has revolutionised the game of basketball. However, I cannot give him the edge over Dirk (not yet, at least) because I truly feel that playoff Steph is a downgrade from regular season Steph. On the other hand, Dirk, note often than not, is on another level in the playoffs compared to the regular season. Let us also not forget how Dirk revolutionised the game as well, being one of the first true shooting big men and being the pioneer of the iconic fadeaway

I’m the biggest Steph stan on the site and I’ll be the 1st to admit he isn’t better than Magic, if he’s got 3 more elite seasons in him (28/4/5 w/ 45/40/90 splits) then I can argue for him but not rn
