The Black Mamba

Written by kennyslota

I grew up a Celtics fan and I bleed and shit green, but Kobe is my all time favorite player. His skill set and packed offensive arsenal combined with his athleticism made him too fun to watch. His game is poetry in motion. With that being said, I had to pick this card up ASAP. I didn’t get him ASAP and it actually took a while but it was worth it.

Bought for: 279,000 MT (Diamond shoe & contract)

  • Shooting: no matter how you get the open shot, this Kobe seems to drain most of them. His release is fairly easy and this really opens up his offensive game. He will knock down standing shot mids and (I have a diamond shoe that gives him 90 open shot 3) three pointers with consistency.

  • Fadeaway: the way his animations allow him to create so much space makes him a threat from anywhere. His badges combined with high ratings allow him to knock down ridiculous shots with ease.

  • Dribbling: his dribbling animations are top notch and give him the ability to create space off the dribble and break down the defense to make plays.

  • Passing: whether you believe Kobe was ass at getting his team involved or not, his playmaking exceeded expectations. He’s only got me 1 turnover in the 20 games i’ve played with him and has great accuracy and vision despite his stats not being crazy high.

  • Defense: this man will lock down everybody and they moms. he has hella clamps and can strip the ball away from the best of the ball handlers.

  • Athleticism: this man is a freak of nature. lightning quick and durable and can keep up with anyone, his athleticism seems to make his stats stand out even more.

  • Stamina: i play him at 42 minutes/game and with HOF tireless scorer, he is consistent every second of the game and fatigue seems to have no impact on his game.

  • Rebounding: despite his subpar rebounding stats, he gets a lot more of his own misses than i expected. he doesn’t really crash the boards, but he almost seems to follow his shot and gets a lot of second chance opportunities.

  • Crashing: he doesn’t really crash the boards and only gets me a couple boards a game but they are oddly only off his own misses, but don’t expect him to outrebound his opponent.

  • Blocks: he’ll occasionally get a crazy rejection here and there, especially on taller centers like Yao and Mutumbo, but he only gets like 1 dope block every other game or so.

Recommended Strategy: Drive 1v1, P&R or Pick & Pop, abuse the shot stick, pull up, use as playmaker, he can really do it all.

Use if: you need a top tier player who plays way above his ratings

Don’t use if: you have no MT

Bottom line: AMAZING value and one of the best players in the game without a doubt.
