Darrell Armstrong '08
Darrell The Shot-Caller

Welcome back to the absolute shithousery that is NBA 2K. Hello I am back and back again to rage over how good this card is. This boy’s an absolute menace, easily my favorite card this year and will be one of my favorites for a long time.
** I recently evolved this card to ruby but I’ve used the sapphire 95% of the time so keep that in mind that this IS on the sapphire and a bit of the ruby.
I got this little monster for about 1-2k and I couldn’t be more happy with what I’ve gotten out of such a small price. This guy has to be the biggest pest despite being such a small man on the court.
Inside scoring: Now this is the fun part of this card. This guy’s inside game reeks havoc on anyone that dares to challenge him. I make stupendous dunks and layups over, around, under, and through anyone stupid enough to put someone in front of his path to the rim. He has the perfect amount of flashy and efficiency to where he doesn’t get blocked but he adds enough flare to embarrass anyone trying to guard him. I think the thing that I really love about him is that he’ll use flashy dunks to take the ball away from any defender that might block him. If someone’s on his right and he’s dribbling with his right, he’ll do a switcheroo or an insanity dunk so that he switches hand and the defender is rendered useless.
Outside scoring: Having 90 driving dunk, 84 driving layup, etc. is scary enough, but then adding 86 mid range and 82 three?! Jeez this guy does what he wants when he wants. His three is useful because if someone wants to sit in the paint so that he doesn’t get slammed as often (he still will get slammed there is no avoiding it), you can just shoot a three or shoot a mid-range. This card is truly unguardable.
Physicals: He’s a very rapid little man with 88 speed, 88 speed with ball, 90 something vertical I don’t remember. I won a jump ball over de’aaron fox with this guy. Not the best guy for jump balls but still he won it, being very undersized.
- Perimeter D: He’s not fully lockdown but 84 perimeter defense lets him hold his own defensively along the perimeter. He is better than I expected and he contests a lot of shots that I (and my opponent) didn’t expect.
Post Game: Now this is to be expected. A 6’0” point guard should not have a post game, and he doesn’t. The only problem with this is that you can’t let the other guard post up on him. You’ll need some help D bc he won’t guard him very well at all.
- Rebounding: Again, expected. He’s 6’0” with 30 or so rebounding. I’m surprised he gets any at all, but still not enough.
Recommended Strategy: Just do anything that doesn’t involve the post game. He calls the shots and he does what he wants when he wants. You wanna wet a three in someone’s face? Darrell’s got it. You wanna drop a middy on someone’s head? Darrell’s here. You wanna blow by someone and take it to the tin? Darrell. You wanna poster some snobby cunt roaming in the paint? Guess who’s here for it? Darrell motherfuckin’ Armstrong.
Use If: You feel like being an absolute dick and ending an innocent man’s whole 2k career.
Don’t Use If: You don’t like having fun.
Bottom Line: This guy’s a gem and anyone that doesn’t use him yet will sooner or later...
