You need to get a certain amount of MT to continue. I think you need something like 870 MT to get stars, and even if you win if you don't get ebough MT you won't get the packs or the stars. To get past it I usually try to cheese my way into getting 10 free throws, which gives you like 100 extra MT, so that should help.
